In a tale as old as time itself, at the end of my bike ride yesterday the Bluetooth connection to my GPS bike computer said that the battery on my electronic shifters was running low. I plugged it in overnight but didn’t check that the connection was good. And when a Di2 shifting system is plugged in but not charging it apparently drains the battery. So I got out of my car at the brewery for today’s ride and set off and realised that my shifter wasn’t shifting so I did the entire 42 miles today in a single gear - it was a bit of a big gear on the flats but OK. It was absolutely brutal on the climbs and now my quads and calves hurt.

Had a bit shock last night, heard a bit of a cuffule about 3 in the morning thought the cat was attacking some of the boxes stacked up in the living room or something, went on for a while, finnaly got up to kick its ass it to find a racoon had overturned the kitchen bin and was tucking into a bag of cat food I had on the counter, little f**k*r was not the least but bothered by us, simply sauntered back the window and jumped out.

How does a raccoon find its way into your kitchen? Don't you shut the doors?

I got a puncture yesterday, caused by a shard of bone. On Saturday, I ran over a squirrel. Connected?

It came in through the window, busted the metal fly screen, those fcukers have big claws, made a right mess, that I now have to repair as the house is sold.

I've heard that raccoons can carry rabies - is that true in your neck of the woods too?
Think I'll stay in Good Ol' Blighty, thanks very much, where the most dangerous animal I've ever come across was a red squirrel with a bit of a chesty cough.

Yes they do carry rabies, but I'm not sure how widespread it is.

Certainly cooler here this morning. Bright, clear and sunny. Just got back from the beach. Still lots of people swimming and sailing.
It's interesting to see how many south Wsian blokes have taken up sea angling. And eastern Europeans too (they're usually well into their second can of lager by the time we cycle past them getting out of their cars in the car park. All very jolly. My Dad managed to cycle the whole way back with his helmet on the wrong way round.

Thick fog here this morning. Will make my bike ride damp and less fun, but if it sticks, it's more of a problem for the air show today. I don't go to the airshow but some people could end up pretty disappointed.

Continuing to pack up. Gotta empty the shed and break down the shelving It's amazing how much stuff you accumulate, taken quite a few loads to the tip already

Voice - I know your pain. I'm doing the same prior to our move to Eastbourne. But as I can't drive now - I have to relay on me Lady wife. The loft is a nightmare. - it's full of her stuff which "can't possibly be thrown away." - we are meant to be downsizing! Anyway I'll leave you with this:
"What is the first rule of the Passive Aggressive Club?"
"Oh..you know what - never mind...it's fine - no honestly it's fine...OK"

Aaaaaah. Dropped Mrs B at Gatwick today en route to sunny Spain. Home alone for at least a month now. FiL had a stroke last week and will need support when he gets out of hospital. Poor bugger's 87, but he's rallying well. He's a good man, very strong, so there's everything to hope for.
I need to stay here with my folks, the dogs and a new job. This has been a while coming, so we'll just get on with it. The she-child has cycled up from Bristol, so I might have some company in the next few days.

Funny thing, company. I really don't need it. I'm 'good with people' but I've never needed them. I understand the concept, but I've never been lonely in my life, not in a bad way at least. Maybe I'll change as I get older but, really, I've always been happy enough on my tod.

The best way of downsizing I ever found was moving across oceans and continents. It’s great. Moving somewhere you can drive just allows you to keep any old sh*t. But I am also willing to throw almost anything out and have little emotional connection to objects, so I’m good with the long distance move.

As Mrs B is in Spain she can take my car for a few weeks to get home.

Most of it is the kids stuff Mrs Voice wants to keep, they don't appear to care but that means nothing, it's got to be kept.
Sadly I f**k*d up my back lifting badly so that's really gonna f**k things up if it turns out to be more than a thing of the siatic nerve, I was planning on taking a load of firewood up Monday, a truck and trailer full, have to see
Getting old is sh*t, too many biking climbing and hiking injuries coming back to bite me.

Several international moves over the years and moving cities in between that and I find I don’t accumulate that much. I am not a hoarder generally and just chuck stuff out.
