I think once you get outside Montreal the rest of Quebec can be pretty unpleasant especially Quebec city, quite obsessivly French by all accounts, and not in a good way.

I've found Canadians to be a bit whiny and also boastful of their own country, more so than Americans.

Funny how people dislike the French. We probably all know a few nice Frenchies but, collectively, they seem to be rather unpleasant. Dunno why that is. They often seem a bit uptight. It's another one of those myths that the English wankfest over. They just don't like non-French speaking oafs shouting at them in English. Other than that they can be as cuntish as any other nationality. Another reason they may appear unpleasant is because they tend to be out front with their opinions. Offhand, apart from the English I can't think of another nation which has such a boner for them.

Oh I think you'll find the yanks are very contemptuous of the French.
Though I've always liked France and always found most to be quite nice when I've been there, the food is of a better quality for the most part as well

Dunno about the yanks - we have loads of US francophile tourists and plenty live over here. I even count a couple as personal 'friends', much as I tend to avoid this weird friendship thing.

Of course the real problem is communists. Other nationalities or races or ethnicities are just fine. Communists though...

Dunno what it’s like to live but very nice to visit. A tour I went on whale watching was rather bizarre though. The guide was adamant he was bilingual French / English. I just ended up only listening to the French as his English was terrible.

This weekend I am in Montreal. The weather is absolute dogshit. But apart from that it’s like being in French Canada. Sort of somewhere between being in the US but with nice people; and being in France but with nice people. I lived in Montreal for a year. Great city. I love how different Quebec is to the rest of North America (well other English speaking Canadian and US cities). Really feels like a spot of Europe. And Quebec City feels even more foreign.

I think French people are lovely and it’s a warm, friendly place to visit. Much as I love Paris though Parisians are c.unts pretty much 100%. As most people visit Paris that’s probably where there stereotype comes from. A bit like London and the UK. Londoners are unfriendly c.unts overwhelmingly (and very snobby) and it’s not fair to judge all Brits by those from dahn sarf.

They're not though. Although the white ones are a bit dodgy.

London is perfectly nice and friendly. Not, necessarily, the suited commuter belt cunts on the Waterloo and City Line who don’t live in London but work in London. And not necessarily the Russian mafiosi wives parking their Maserati 4x4s on the pavements in Kensington dropping their kids off at stupidly expensive school. But generally, Londoners are nice. They don’t do that superficial smile and say hello to strangers thing, because you’d end up utterly exhausted, and they’re aware that most people want and need boundaries when you live in that close proximity. But if there’s a reason to chat they will be nice, and friendly.

I'm not sure that I agree that Londoners are unfriendly. Over-matey, if anything. A bit cocky and loud maybe.

They’re not unfriendly compared to Parisians.
Which is a fairly low bar. By UK standards. The worst.

It’s funny that it’s usually chippy angry northerners who think Londoners are unfriendly…

I’m not a Northerner but I agree with them about Londoners.
Literally. The. Worst.
Very aggressive too.
Londoners never see it because, why would they. No point of comparison. Like when you visit a farm you notice the stench immediately but farmers don’t. Like that.

I’m not a Londoner. I noticed it always being friendly when it needed to be, unlike northerners who’re often chippy and angry by default. And because London’s friendliness is different to what they’re used to, the Northerners think it’s unfriendly. They’re chippy northerners who don’t understand that friendly might be different in different places, and are upset things are not exactly like they are in Leeds or Manchester or Newcastle.
