It does seem a shocking failure. I'm not sure even Vlad's cynical enough to let it happen for a scheming advantage though.

I think he would be cynical enough, just like Bibi. But, as in that case, I think his people just f**k*d up and/or he wasn't willing to listen to the sources.

Far right muzzies at that. Not much difference to other far right extremists when all said and done.

And as we're all agreed, Islamists are left wing because, they hate Jews, Israel, Britain, the West generally, white people and women. And they think we're all islamophobic. They're communitarian, don't like individualism and want a one world government. The left.

18 hours since the last post, eh? Nothing happening?
Dylan Thomas 1914 –1953
Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

It feels like there's been bizarrely little news over the last couple of days.

True dat.
It may just be that it doesn't resonate with us any more. I was saddened to hear that Frank Skinner has not had his contact renewed after 15 years with Absolute Radio. For us, he just gets warmer and funnier, but we're not their target audience any more.
Circle of life.

Maybe, but for three days the headlines have been ISIS in Moscow, Princess has cancer, background noise about Gaza. And I think it's not only us bored by those subjects, with not much new to say.
Jasmin Parris finishing the Barklay Marathons is cool. Another Republican representative resigning is funny, leaving their small majority ever smaller, but they still managed to get the funding bill passed. It's just a quiet news season.

On Ukraine, I see they've done yet more damage to the Russian Black Sea fleet. Which is funny because the Russians are so hung up on naval superiority in what is basically a small inland sea.
I was reminded again earlier this week that all the lines about Crimea being "historically part of Russia" are bullshit. It didn't become "Russia" until the 1784.
I also learned that the Ottomans were only involved in WWI really because the Russians, having got Crimea and with some millenial bullshit idea of the Third Rome and Orthodoxy, decided they needed to have Constantinople and were planning to invade, so the Ottomans had to ally with Germany to protect themselves, thus the French and Brits got aligned against them and with Russia this time unlike the 1850s. If the Russians hadn't had expansionist nonsense, the whole Gallipoli and Lawrence of Arabia thing, Sykes Picot and Balfour would not have happened, and probably the current Palestinian conflict would be playing out differently.

I don't care if this Islamoleftist was tortured. "Disturbing images have shown Russian forces torturing a Moscow terror suspect by hooking his genitals up to an 80v battery and leaving him foaming at the mouth, as new footage of Friday's slaughter has emerged. Photographs show one of the suspected terrorists, named as Shamsuddin Fariddun, lying on a gym floor with his trousers pulled down and wires evidently attached to his groin area. He is visibly foaming from the mouth and appears to be clenching his teeth, while a man in military uniform stands with his foot on the leg of the suspect. This barbaric but known torture technique in Russia follows an incident where another suspect's ears was cut off on camera with a knife when he was detained in the Bryansk region on Sunday, as the Russian Investigative Committee continue their brutal interrogation." www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13233511/Russian-forces-torturing-Moscow-terror-suspect-hooking-genitals-battery.html

Why is The Mail whining about torture? Of course it's horrible, but it works, up to a point. This is one of those cases where I expect there is no point, by design. The cell structure. Need-to-know. Get past the first 24 hours etc.
They won't get anything useful here.

It’s a bit weird to take photos like that and share them with the press.
