Instructive how the far extreme left don't understand that. "I want it so it must be right" is their approach to life.

I'm glad we on the far centre have facts and reason as our lords and masters.

what colour are the clouds on your planet? Interesting that the only comeback (apart from your own bizarre non-statement) came from someone who doesn't understand what a majority vote means.
Which one (or more) of the observations caused your response? Seriously.

I'll list them to remind you:
Referendums where a single vote can decide the whole country's future. For the benefit of resident thickos, this is where for a example 101 votes wins over 100 votes. I could go on about FPTP. The insanity of the structure: the Royal family, Lords and Ladies, knights and barons, etc etc. Lying politicians. Billionaires who salt away the country's wealth in secret bank accounts. Driving on the left. No written constitution. No independent judiciary. A heavy duty class system. Posh schools for rich kids. Starving forelock tugging peasants. Rife gullibility. Piers Corbyn.

Hi ootlg
I was actually being lighthearted - but I'll try to answer:
Referendums where a single vote can decide the whole country's future. For the benefit of resident thickos, this is where for a example 101 votes wins over 100 votes. I could go on about FPTP. Well I voted to stay - the actual vote was 51.9% leave - 48.1% stay
The insanity of the structure: the Royal family, Lords and Ladies, knights and barons, etc etc. I'm not interested in any individual Royal but I like having a hereditary head of state rather than a voted for President.
Lying politicians. - Every country has lying politicians.
Billionaires who salt away the country's wealth in secret bank accounts. - ditto
Driving on the left. This keeps my sword hand free
No written constitution. and a good job too.
No independent judiciary. Our judiciary is independent.
A heavy duty class system. - used to be - not so much now...more a Celeb based society now.
Posh schools for rich kids. Our Public Schools are filled with rich kids from around the world - and nowadays having a posh accent can be a hindrance. Starving forelock tugging peasants. this has to be a joke.
Rife gullibility. have you met any Americans?
Piers Corbyn. Well that's the Left for you.

Thanks for getting back on that. It's quite refreshing to exchange considered thoughts.
I think you missed my first point which was that the 'democratic' electoral system of majority vote allows that a single vote can decide a country's future - which tends to divide a population. I'm not against a hereditary head of state, just the hangers on paid for by the taxpayer. Saying that, I'm more republican by nature. My dig about lying politicians was aimed at a PM who openly lies - and to the hereditary head of state. Because there are those who nick taxpayers' money in other countries it doesn't exonerate our own. Driving on the left. Apart from the jokes, why not change to conform with the rest of the world and make driving abroad safer like Sweden did? Why is no written constitution a good thing? Again, my remark on the judiciary was aimed at the British system which is controlled by parliament; fine if parliament is an honorable body. We're agreed on the class system. Schools like Eton are a nasty anachronism which promote the class system and privilege. Starving forelock tugging peasants is a metaphor for people like mids and Baloo. Rife gullibility - see above. Piers Corbyn was added as a bit of light relief.

Democracy is sh*t but better than all the alternatives, as the saying always goes. A 1 vote majority is still a majority, and if you're going to decide things then that's the way it is. Even Brexit or Scottish independence. And requiring anything bigger than a simple majority creates all kinds of additional problems.
Hereditary heads of state are bollocks. An elected President is fine provided they have the kind of power that the German or Italian presidents have. You don't need to have a stupid system with US or French style presidents making the parliamentary system much weaker.

The idea the class system is dead is risible, the heads of almost every UK institution from the BBC to the civil service and everything in-between almost all went to the same elite schools and universities. Its the very definition of a closed shop.

The reason people in the top jobs go to the same universities is because they're the top universities.
