Fina, swimming's world governing body, has voted to stop transgender athletes from competing in women's elite races if they have gone through any part of the process of male puberty.
The new policy requires transgender competitors to have completed their transition by the age of 12 in order to be able to compete in women's competitions.
Fina will also aim to establish an 'open' category at competitions for swimmers whose gender identity is different than their birth sex.
The policy was passed with 71% of the vote from 152 Fina members.
The decision was made during an extraordinary general congress at the ongoing World Championships in Budapest.
Earlier Fina members heard a report from a transgender task force made up of leading figures from the world of medicine, law and sport.
Fina's decision follows a move on Thursday by the UCI, cycling's governing body, to double the period of time before a rider transitioning from male to female can compete in women's races.
The issue in swimming has been catapulted into the spotlight by the experiences of American Lia Thomas.
I realise, of course, that by posting this story I have become a TRANSPHOBE!!

So we should encourage kids to transition younger?

I don't mind when they transition. Just don't lop anything off.

But that’s what this policy is encouraging: lop everything off before they’re 12 just in case they become good swimmers.

Nah. They're not encouraging it. If the mentalist, right-on, child mutilators allow that, then it's on them.

Andy, I know, we know and more importantly, you know that what you just posted based on the article above is a Non sequitur.

It says that if you transition before 12 you’re OK to compete. So if you are younger and aren’t sure about your gender identity it appears that the motivation is to make sure the transition is done early.
I understand that the goal of the ruling is to exclude trans women and get society to view them as outsider freaks. But the consequences are a change of motivation to get transition done young.

It's quite simple. Children, because they're children, shouldn't be allowed to decide such things themselves. It's the same reasoning that means we don't allow children to vote, buy alcohol or cigarettes and a whole bunch of other stuff.

So parents who want their sons to become champion swimmers should force them to transition before they become 12?

I know you're doing this for a laugh - so I'll go off and do something else.

It's clearly designed to just exclude trans women from sport without just coming out and being honest. No one thinks being fully transitioned by 12 is ever gonna be acceptable, but by them putting that rule in place they've fully pondered to the transobsessives and just enacted a ban by slight of hand.

I’m not doing it for a laugh. I’m pointing out a glaring idiocy in the stupid and apparently bigoted ruling. There still seems to be no evidence of a problem despite them implementing a solution.

It's designed to exclude men from women's sport. One in the eye for the transobsessives, I'd say.

The policy is the result of a ton of performed anger and bile from men who hate trans people and tend to not care about women and really never cared about womens sport. It is part of an attempt to create a wedge to distinguish between cis and trans women and exclude trans women from as many places that they can.
What they can’t handle is treating trans and cis women as equals and as women.

The left hate common sense and fairness. They just don't get either. In fact, they only exist on their absence.
