I'm not sure many people were actually that sorry apart from her husband... generously, we can say that she wasn't always the nicest person. But, you know, you have to be seen to be doing the right thing.

The BBC really are despicable racists. It's time to close it down. Of 23 players in the squad, 3 are black. That's 13%; an over-representation of black chicks.

Yeah, why not use a rational metric to aim for, like proportion of the general population rather than proportion of the prison population?

They've also managed to find some racist girls to interview. None of them seem to be able to "identify" with white players.

We’ve been over this already. It’s pretty odd that no non-white players have started a game for England yet. The FA have a recent history of some pretty racist sh*t - supporting the racist previous coach in particular - with regards to the womens national team. But the biggest problem seems to be a bunch of structural changes that are not directly racist but basically mean access to the elite game requires fairly rich parents who have time to look after their kids rather than having both parents work. This is also increasingly true in the US across all sports.

Nah, not buying that. A) The black girls are at reasonable proportions in the squad and B) there are loads of poor white kids in UK too.

So what's to be done about the enormously disproportionate number of black women in the squad? The fact that they're in the squad but not getting a game even suggests that they're there for reasons other than talent.
