It’s hilarious because he didn’t even state that Trump was a worse candidate than the others (not necessarily true), or that Trump was a bad candidate (true). He was stating what has to be the explicit position of a party leader in a contested primary: I don’t know if he’s the strongest candidate. They should explicitly be saying “it’s up to the primary electorate, not me, to determine who’s strongest”.
But because Trump is a thin skinned 3 year old, we had a tantrum and he’s been apologising ever since.
