Yeah, it's a different world to us. Never been a wanderer, but it might be different if your role models were, and there are no consequences.

Interesting picture. Could do without the butterfly or the ridiculous sword. Without those it would be a good portrait of a man on the verge of death who fought bravely in the trenches and lost all his comrades and is now old and infirm and useless and abandoned by society except on one day a year where he gets to put on his old regimental regalia.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, of course.
I think it's a good piece, rich in symbolism. Pearls before swine, of course. The kind of people who can't cope with the poetry.

I think it's a good picture, particularly by the standards of royal portraits. Just a shame about the Butterfly which is a bit ridiculous.

Yeah, it's a bit obvious to the eye.

Why is there a random butterfly?

It's not random.

I looked up the reason for the butterfly.
It seems more cringe now.

Symbolism is a bit of a imprecise .... errr .... art. A symbol may mean different things at the same time. Context plays a part.

Actually, it occurs to me that heraldry is the very definition of symbolism.

It doesn't make me think of Empire. Nor would it bother me if it did.
