Stephen Hawking was a theoretical physicist. He didn't work on AI. You understand that coding and doing n-dimensional maths are different things? i also knew that. so his opinion doesn't count or matter, right? following that line i should dismiss your comments because you aren't working on AI. but you aren't stopping at dismissing hawking. you are also dismissing the warnings of those who are directly involved in working on AI. |

Again, experts schmexperts. Fauci would have been talking about his area, with the benefit of the best science and acting purely in the scope of his professional responsibility to the American public. He also had overwhelming scientific evidence of the problem and a proven remedy.

Also - and this is not relevant but is ironic - Fauci was the one accused of being a scaremongering nincompoop who was over-reacting by the likes of Rick. Yet this time he wants to follow the scaremongering "experts" even though those experts are working purely in theoretical space.

Well Fauci was essentially right, and few in public health, imuniologists and virologists disagreed with his approach or assessment of the risk or the response to covid.
Anyway not going over all that here, suffice to say AI presently is not intelligent, but like every new thing we've ever invested that has the potential for a paradigm shift, there are those who are frightened by it and swing straight for doom gloom and the end is near responses. Meanwhile the grown ups keep calm and carry on.
