Surprised they refer to that as AI.
It's really just a database, set up after a quiz, then refined through feedback to tailor recommendations.
So what? Had that technology for decades. Not on the scale you get now, with so much computing power and fast internet. But in essence it's quite primitive.
I did like this though...
"Users can even chat with a wine to learn more about it."
Well, not really. The app is merely repeating tasting notes and whatever other info is available anyway.
Whenever I chat with a wine, I've had too much already.

Yeah. I remember a friend and I discussing creating a website that would do that 2 decades or more ago. And, in fact, better because it would choose your wine to match not only your tastes but also your food. Obviously it wasn’t an app, because it was before apps even existed. But it was basically the same thing. It’s really fairly basic, and not AI.

The best this app is likely to deliver is an inoffensive, middle-of-the-road table wine, and then only if you're used to drinking crap.

AI will end up making all our choices/decisions for us. since AI robots will take over our jobs we will be obsolete. just vegetate on the couch pondering our navels on an LSD trip.

Well, folks who are in danger or that happening were always in danger of that happening. That's mass culture.

I remember when Amazon started out on books and it was all done on crowdsourcing what people liked with idiotic results. Basically, everyone bought the Harry Potter books, so "People who bought Ivo Andric's The Bridge Over The Drina also bought Harry Potter". Also "People who bought Adam Smith's The Wealth Of Nations also bought Harry Potter" and so on. This could end up doing the same. Whatever the mass produced cheap plonk of the day is - it's probably no longer Wolf Blass shiraz, but whatever the new version of that is - will be recommended to everyone.

I remember Amazon opening their discount book store opposite Foyle’s at Tottenham Ct Rd and thinking that it was a stupid business decision !! Made worse by the fact that when I enquired about a particular book , the assistant was clueless & probably thought Orwell & Hunter Thompson were footballers or pop stars…. Still , I guess they didn’t do too bad in the end 😊

Not at all. Orwell Thompson made his fortune when he replaced Robbie in Take That, and Hunter Thompson ended up making millions playing in the Chinese football leagues after he quit Chelsea/

Welcome to the group, bluda. Tell us a little about yourself, if you like, just so that we can pigeon-hole you and belittle you. It's our culture here: all part of the fun.

Sadly, people are like sheep - what 'society' thinks nowadays is soooo important. And this is adults - the current crop of kids mired in social media will be tons worse - already suiciding.

Saw a good comment today
Elon is getting into the AI business, developing one specifically for the right, it's gonna be called 'Artificial Ignorance'
Should be very popular for team outrage

If this is the level AI can manage, those quivering in fear over AI look even more pathetic

Well, if he wasn't a vegetable before...
Shouldn't be funny I know, but if AI decides to wipe us out, it won't be one worker at a time.

I don't understand how they get away calling ChatGPT et al "AI".
All LLMs do is parrot back what they find online.
