I read today that it's suspected that it was indeed their own biological warfare that backfired on them, meaning it was a self-created disease! Serves them right if so!

The cure is brick housing and soap. Rats can't chew through bricks.

Hopefully the Black Death will spread within their cells and wipe more of them out, so you won't have to exert yourself radge! There's plenty more in the woodwork though!

"yord, the UK isn't totally reliant on imports to feed its population, quite the contrary. We are able to produce meat, fresh foodstuffs, dairy produce etc."
Liby, Ive no intention of downloading phd files to back this up when all you need to do is a quick glance at any supermarket shelves. From memory the U.K. runs a trade deficit in food equal to 2% of GDP, compared with a balance in the U.S. and a surplus in countries like France, importing more of its food than any other major economy.70-80% of the U.K.'s food comes from the European Union, and the pound has and is still falling against the euro.

sweet soul don't worry, we have antibiotics which cures the Black Death. However where AQ are they don't have any, hence the deaths!

yord, i understand what you're saying. I buy everything British in my supermarket trolley, and as long as i am able to do that i am convinced we will be ok. I don't know what supermarkets you shop at, but mine actively support British produce. I am aware Lidl and Aldi are mainly foreign produce, but i don't shop there.

To have a british lable on a product all that is required is for it to be packaged in the UK and just where do you suppose the wheat is coming from that your local baker uses to make his bread with.

I used to work in an Agricultural Merchants yord, a very large percentage of grain is produced here in the UK - it is not all imported.

It appears that we are 60% self-sufficient agriculturally. No doubt if it was necessary, and they knew the produce would be sold, farmers could up that production. www.fdf.org.uk/imports_exports.aspx nice short article. We wouldn't have the more exotic food and drink we buy abroad, of course, but I'm pretty sure we could cope.
