Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has walked away unscathed despite writing off his Ferrari in a spectacular car crash near Manchester airport.
His A$433,000 luxury sports car's front end was smashed to pieces and it lost a wheel as he collided with a roadside barrier while driving to training, the morning after a disappointing defeat for his team.
Ronaldo's teammate Edwin van der Sar, United's goalkeeper, was following in his Bentley at the time of the crash but was not involved in the collision, said police.
Skid marks were clearly visible leading up to the crash scene, and a photographer who arrived shortly afterwards described the 23-year-old Portugal winger's bright-red car as a "terrible mess".
But Greater Manchester Police said no one had been injured.
news.ninemsn.com.au/world/716403/Ronaldo-in-horror-Ferrari-smash/?rss=yesThe credit crunch hasn't affect this guy, he's got a few back up Ferrari's, after smashing one, maybe he'll even change to the Bently. He's lucky he's not dead.

In 20 years he'll be broke and sleeping on someone's couch if he keeps this up. He's got a few bucks from playing sports, he's not a "Captain of Industry" and he's living a lifestyle like he is a "Captain of Industry".
Mike Tyson, Jose Canseco (Baseball Player) went from multimillionaires, to completely broke. Same story, blew through their money and then some with nothing to show for it. Now they're making nickels and dimes on what's left of their rapidly fading past fame, doing cheesy appearances for mall openings and sports memorabilia signings.

If you were an insurance company, would you cover him? I sure as hell wouldn't!

From the Guardian, interesting viewpoint. I'm sure that I saw an article that referred to long skid marks but....
If I were Ferrari, I would be reluctant to sell him another one. Very badly damaged for a legal speed limit crash. A SMART car might survive better
"A spokesman for the AA said a quick ring-round of its insurers had failed to elicit a single offer.
"We cannot find anybody who would touch him with a bargepole," said a spokesman. "The minimum age to get insured for that car would be 25 and then the best price we could find would be £44,000 but if the person had had an accident that would go up to around £100,000."
But the AA said most insurers would be reluctant to cover any professional footballers – whatever car they drive – because they are seen as a high risk group.
"It's not just the cost of the car itself. Imagine if there were three Premiership footballers in one car and they received injuries that meant they couldn't play again. We would be paying out for loss of earnings, paying sponsors for failure to fulfil contracts – the costs just go on and on."
Tony Chilcott, the head of Churchill car insurance, said the Portuguese player's "individual circumstances" meant he was not Churchill's ideal customer."

He'll have to pay a chauffeur.
Not everything that glistens is gold (i.e. Premiership footie players' salaries).

Yeah it seems like he has now totalled over half a million quids worth of cars in about eight months.
The nitwit did it at the tunnel under the Manchester airport main runway.
