So creative swearing is fine, but I can't promote the use of alcohol or sex?

A return of the MSN style Next / Previous thread buttons would be nice...its tedious going back to the main menu every time you want to read/post on another thread. A NEXT button would be really good, clicking on the numbers is awkward. The next/previous discussion thread is a good idea too.

Can we get rid of avatars? I love to see Avatars, especially original creations. made mine specially for this group. Now I have it on Facebook as well.

I think Ian has said he cannot find a script to do a NEXT button. We have implemented many of the suggestions made, namely - a fix to take you to the last page of the thread when you click on the link, instead of the first page
- a fix to take you to your post after you've posted instead of back to the top of the page
- and a fix that adds the default reply button to every post.

was looking a the offical support forum today and came across this. It's in the agreement you sign when you register to join a proboard forum and also in the Terms of Service (TOS) ... but it doesn't hurt to remind you all again What can get your Board DELETED Please remember that all forums hosted by ProBoards must be appropriate for 13 years old and up. Any forums breaking the terms of service will be deleted. You might want to review your site and make sure you're conforming to TOS, which state (in part): "User's web site may not contain content promoting the use of illegal drugs, alcohol, sex, pornography, nudity, or any other form of adult content, profanity, hate, "spam," fraud, racism, mlm, pyramid schemes, or promote any illegal activity." The entire Terms of Service can be found here: www.proboards.com/tos.htmlThe entire ToS that I have already posted a screen grab of. I'd be interested in seeing the link to your para above about 'What can get your board DELETED' because it is not in the Terms of Service.Maybe its just an opinion on the Proboards support boards - which are run by volunteers and are by no means 'official'.
We really have to get over this 'swearing' thing, what is swearing? A word that aint in the Oxford dictionary? Struth. A word that describes a sexual act - that according to Victorian 'values' should not be mentioned? Would we be here if that act didn't happen ? A reference to certain parts of the anatomy? My god that he should have made us in such a fashion. A working class crudity? Naw, even the toffs use non dictionary words .............. and some wimmin too, how dreadfully naughty. Gordon Ramsey gets away with it on the telly - is there something holier than thou about a silly message board? > Que all the plebs wanting to be part of the clique. > Racism is good for the board because it will get us new members but saying bad words won't permit us to get links. does that mean you can hate peoples of a certain race as long as you don't use the F word? I suggest there is a prim and proper dictatorship going on - and you better talk properly - and especially between 9 and 5 when you only see posts from many, a time filler pontificating about matters they know f**k all about while hangin off the office chair bored shitless but getting paid for 'being there'. Personally I don't give a flying f u c k, so its good night from me and good night from him.

www.proboards.com/tos.htmlIt IS in the Terms of Service, all the support board is doing is warning what 'could' get your site closed down if Proboards deemed what is in your site is unacceptable. We have to abide by their terms the same as we did in MSN.

We all have a duty to preserve our new home. If not swearing helps to that end, then that is that. No exceptions. I say again, anyone who feels compelled to profane, has really nothing worthwhile to say. The average number on line at any one time is low. We may find that the site dies for lack of interest. If the addition of members who abhor swearing and personal insults, boosts membership, then I am all for it.

I think it's important to get new members in and if that means being a bit more careful regarding swearing, it's a really small price to pay to ensure the group gets bigger and better. I personally think it's great already, but more posters mean more debates and discussion, bring it on . . . . it'll be great! Please watch the swearing folks! ;D

No, the F word isn't really OK, but Vania admitted she expected it to be censored and apologised. Hancock was being knocked off through the automatic censoring that was in place at that time, but adjustments have been made now.

If we all get used to it now, it will make it easier in the long run! We won't have to worry about not being able to promote our group because of continual swearing, or offending others etc.

BTW , how do we attract new members here ? Is there a place where you can browse pro boards message boards and drop in on the ones that look interesting as we did on MSN ? Or is it by word of mouth or invitation only ?

It doesn't see like the old place to me. It's a lot better. For a start, when you click on a link, it appears. No more, Hmm, Can't find that page! Goodbye MSN. Fun while it lasted, but won't be missing it. (Will MSN be censored with the swear filter??
