I don't really understand why people get so iffy about the rules and regs in a forum.As far as I'm concerned if the owner / moderator says I have to stand on one leg and whistle dixie while I'm posting ,then I'll do it IF I want to be a member of that forum and post something .If I find a rule objectionable or unfair then theres a simple answer ....
Foxy and co have been nice enough to ask what we prefer on lots of things .They didn't need to you know .

Fine ok, I will of course abide by the rule of no swearies. Just hoped we could have binned it when we moved.

well yes ...there is that as well .That's when you're agreeing with someone who doesnt agree with someone else.This is ganging up and bullying .A far worse crime

The Rules and Regs of News are not that difficult to adhere to. After all if we stick to them, then we are able to promote News and entice some new members here. The result - more debating, more issues to discuss and more views and opinions - that's got to be a good thing! Go for it folks! ;D  |

Excellent advice, Libby. We must have more members. We will never reach the dizzy heights of 28,000 again but a few hundred would be a good start. I don't understand why some people feel that profanity is necessary to debate. If the rules say no swearing, then that is that, pure and simple. I'm no saint but respect the conditions of membership.

Ah poor joyce, don't worry about the stars. At least everyone feels they get treated the same now and it's not competitive to see who gets the most stars! Fairer really! You can still set yourself targets as it still shows how many posts you've made under your name on the left, where it also shows your location if you've entered it! ;D

Swearing? Used allot by those with a limited vocabulary. Used excessively reduces the impact, debases the value of what you are trying to say. When used as a written word? Childish, I got a thrashing as a child for chalking up the "F word" all over our street. ;D

I genuinely think many people have so got into the habit of swearing a lot that they really cannot abstain from it. It does become habitual, but i guess like any habit, it can be stopped. Also, i don't know what everyone else thinks, but when a person swears all the time, what they are saying loses credibility because others swear to highlight the point they are making. When used in normal convos, it loses the point. Of course i may be wrong, just my personal opinion. It's what i tell my kids!
