Bizarre non-sequitor of the week:
'Anybody who swears that much on a cooking show must be fired,'

seeing as he is renowned for swearing , anyone who watches it and finds it offensive obviously watched it to have something to be outraged about!

I hate this country. In a country where a chef is famed for swearing, who has a show called the F word, they still manage to make a shock-horror story out of the fact that he swore. It's a bit like complaining that, watching Children in Need, they were raising money for charity. Or that, on match of the day, there was football. Or on Jonathon Ross he was being a bit of an un-entertaining twat.
Get a grip you pathetic, pathetic country. How on earth can they get multiple MPs in that article actually complaining about the fact someone did what he's known for?
And what on earth is the relationship between cooking and not-swearing? Just because they grew up on Delia doesn't mean that restaurant chefs don't use fruity language.
Really.
By the way, if you're ever trapped in Heathrow T5 because there's snow on the runway, and you're on a company expense account (or are just feeling a little flush), do eat at the Ramsay restaurant in there. It's actually really quite good. Unlike everything else there.

'We have got to tone it down because bad language on TV is seeping into society.'
Or more likely, bad language in society is seeping onto TV.

It's a country that can support the Daily Mail, Tarrant. So I blame the whole country. That, and the fact I'm in a generally bad mood with the place at the moment.

I'd like to see him and all the other pointless 'celebrity' chefs sacked from TV.
Not because he swears a lot - simply because he and his ilk are a waste of space ! We've been cooking food successfully ever since a cave man accidentally dropped his lump of raw meat on the camp fire and we don't need some pretentious, overpaid prat encouraging us to experiment with herbs and spices !

I'm sure the celebrity chefs will fall from fashion eventually.

It's actually a fairly orthodox picture of how most British people cook, though.
And I actually enjoy some of Ramsay's shows. One of the few celeb chefs I enjoy. Because he doesn't tell us how to cook, so much, as tell us how to not run spectacularly useless restaurants. (And other businesses).

The only celeb chef worth watching is Rick Stein. The rest are all rubbish.

I'm just wondering whether British food standards generally have been raised as a result of TV chefs, or not. I think most people would agree that food in the UK is a lot better now than it was in the past, anyway, whether this is down to chefs or foreigners or what I dunno.

Its the daily wail, I shouldn't bother too much about it. I doubt if the hack even got off his arrse to go out and speak to people.
Anyway, who needs to be shown how to fill up me pot noodle with water......the only choice I have to face is with tabasco sauce or without.

Cooking, Home make overs, garden make overs etc are popular programmes to watch, not many people actually, cook because of them, Decorate because of them, garden because of them. As can be witnessed by "The Royle family" which is a fair relection of life in the UK.

I think most people would agree that food in the UK is a lot better now than it was in the past, anyway, whether this is down to chefs or foreigners or what I dunno. British food standards have improved because more people have travelled, and therefore more people know that there is more variety of food and are forced to try things outside their natural comfort zones and learn they're OK, and people have discovered that it's possible to eat steak that hasn't been thrown into a fire and left for half an hour until it's turned to leather. And maybe Delia, early on, taught people some of the basics they never knew. But otherwise, it's nothing to do with TV chefs. They're just entertaining to watch, occasionally. (Usually if they're Ramsay or Blumethal; most of the rest are a bit crap - which is interesting because Ramsay and Blumethal run the best restaurants of the TV chefs).

I was always told that bad language showed a lack of vocablary. By the way you know whoever told you this was full of sh1t, right?

Not a lack of vocabulary - but probably a lack of respect for the sensibilities of others.
