I've just been having a right old rant with someone. I'm well pissed off actually. You know when someone tries to tell you about something you know a lot more than them about and they try and be clever so much that you get all worked up?
Well that just happened to me.

From: Banjo Sent: 11/13/2001 3:35 AM
Soon the Tardis was again spinning through hyperspace on a crucial mission to mend the tear in the space/time continuum and return the dreaded daleks to interspatial banishment.
What the devil are daleks, Doc?’ Hobo asked. "Well they’re life Hobo, but not as we know it." "Crikey !" Hobo exclaimed. Just then an alarm sounded followed by an announcement. "There’re Klingons on the starboard bow, starboard bow, starboard bow !" "Blimey !" said Hobo. With that a worried voice with a Scottish accent interjected, "She can’t take much more of this Captain !"
"Blasted Radio Four, always interfering with out transmissions," grumbled the Doctor, "I’m just hearing that the dalek infection is much worse than at first we thought. Have you noticed how Bush Jnr. always cuts his sentences, sometimes even his words, in half?" "Can’t say I have," answered Lassie. "Well he does, he’s a dalek too and even Tony Blair’s highly suspect. It seems all these jumped up, short arsed little pip-squeak type world leaders are likely to be daleks in disguise !"
"Whatever’s to be done, Doc?" Banjo yelped in alarm. "I’ll soon know," the Doctor replied, "I’ve just ran an analysis through the Connubial Efficator, results won’t be long, yes here they are now. Let’s see. Politicians – short sighted, unimaginative, terminally conceited, unintelligent, greedy, selfish, ugly, mean, manipulative, dishonest, ruthless, corrupt and boring as hell. Daleks – identical. There’s the solution !"
Lassie didn’t understand. "Hows that, Doctor?" she asked. "The solution,’ answered the Doctor triumphantly, "is to do nothing ! It doesn’t matter whether they’re politicians or daleks because there’s no difference ! Might as well have one as the other ! Just relax and we’ll take a little holiday in the sun. Setting coordinates for sunny Jerilderie."
When their Time Ship landed the travellers disembarked as usual in fear and trepidation. The Tardis stood beside a rutted, dusty dirt track. On both sides of the road towering gums reached into a glaring sky of brightest blue. Heat waves shimmered in the distance, the force of the sun drained their energy and the heat robbed them of breath.
They stood stunned and exhausted in a cloud of blowflies and stared fearfully at the frightening scene confronting them.
Staring back at them was a semi-circle of thoroughbred horses ridden by huge men, all clad in ploughshare armour and pointing big, black pistols straight at the heads of our terrified heroes !
"I’m Ned Kelly and these are me Mates," roared the biggest desperado, "Bail up yer Pommy bastards !"
"Certainly," said the Doctor, "I am the Doctor." "Doctor who?" asked Ned. "That’s right," the Doctor answered with a smile, "would you like a cup of tea?" "Don’t mind if I do," answered Ned jovially and he and his mates dismounted. Brushing the dust from their armour, they all took a seat on a fallen log.
The Doctor disappeared into the Tardis and soon returned bearing a steaming pot of tea and a plate of scones with strawberry jam and cream. "Earl Grey all right, Ned?" the Doctor asked. "Just the ticket !" quoth Ned, "Shall I be Mother?"
Ned poured daintily then, with little fingers all delicately crooked, outlaws and travellers happily sat down together to enjoy a fragrant, refreshing brew.

Pos - Hot as hell over in the west, 35 - 37c, but very wet over here, at last. We need it badly. Quite cool but warming up tomorrow, about 27c. I believe various rugby codes have degenerated to the point of being beaten by Poms. It's not a code in which I have any interest, but I believe the players responsible for accepting defeat at the "hands" of homesexuals are seeking places in that French refugee camp beside the Chunnell. Wise move, Afghans have already taken their places here. We've had an election, close as I ever get to the real thing at my age. Like the real thing though, it soon reached an unsatisfactory climax and subsided without trace. The Insipids won at the expense of the Wankers. As usual. How are things in Far U K?

Lassie has given a brief report that Hobo is still out of action but is convincingly on the mend. Over the past week Lassie and the team have continued to gather information along with American forces and have supplied it to the bombers. They have also bee making way for teh Northern Alliance. Hobo has bee manning the radio supplying the information from his sick bed. Even when he is down, he is still helping !!

Ah Kettrin', how wonderful Pos ! That lovely local accent came flooding back ! Shall we goo Kettrin'? Nah, let's goo Corby ! Are you all right? Yus, are you? The first time someone told me they wanted a foo more I thought they were taking the piss ! I had a shop in Oundle for a few years, right next door to The Angel. I went broke there and no doubt the proximity of The Angel had more than a little to do with my commercial failure. We watched the "Hand Of God" World Cup in The Angel! God, what a day !

Actually, the social down and outs have the kind of cockney slur accent which you mentioned (and the blatant stupid accent which you mentioned is from Corby as it is still the same with the odd drunken scottish slur !) but remarkably the rest of kettering has been mentioned, by southern fairy friends and northern monkey friends, that our accents are very indescript and very ordinary !!!
Oundle ..... now there's a cracking and happening place !

Not really Pos the facetious, it's a Public School town full of plummy young Tories and local, extremely nubile, ambitious shaggees who always end up settling for one of the Oundle Marina fibreglass wipers. Lovely little market town though, always reminded me of Brigadoon. I believe that now however Mr.Patel has taken over the Post Office and the neighbourhood is shot to hell.

Message 6842 of 12489 in Discussion From: Banjo Sent: 11/13/2001 11:01 AMThat would have been the River Nene I guess Pos. The Oundle accent, tempered by the Public School influence is a bit posh but the locals on the lower income scale are still more influenced by the Fens and Norfolk than by the Glaswegian Corby guttersnipe or the Kettrin' ersatz cockney. In Oundle you hear more of the "Ha' y' go' a loight boy?" style which brings with it the goo for go and foo for few. Right Pos - I've gotta go home now - even with a lighter response rate than normal this thread probably got more hits than any other on general - and we don't have prats like herbycat and BOTGP to put up with either.
Have a good night all and v.see ya tomorrow.

Oh such little faith ! Of course i bothered to look ... how could i not? Well, i'm glad Wilky managed to get his seeds swen (?) ...
I've just dropped into the library on my way home from doing Bangladeshi after school literacy and numeracy support group which is nice ... they're a good bunch of kids, and at least i can now say "Eid Mubarak" (something to do with Ramadan). Goes nicely with the Russian and Latin ...
So i'm off to have a wallow in a bath of barefoot doctor ("so damned sexy" actually, don't know if that's a good move ...) with a glass of something suitably chilled and chillin'; NOT going to think about my interview tomorrow at all, no siree bob ... if i don't know it now, i never will !
Catch you all on the morrow anyways, hopefully before the public humiliation ... (all things to do with bomb groups and James Stewart will miraculously flee my mind and i will become the usual blubbering idiot that i am ... Clarke Kent in reverse (without the sex change !)
Catch you soon mateys ! (Promise will try to have a meaningful relationship with a scanner soon, you won't like it i can tell you !) NOTE: Wilky is not so stoopid and masochistic as to hassle me for a piccie !!!
To the top then Lassie !

Message 6924 of 12489 in Discussion
From: Banjo Sent: 11/14/2001 2:45 AM
Washing down the last delicious morsel of scone with the last swig of his Earl Grey, Ned stood up. "Time to get back to business, Boys," he announced, "Let’s head for Jerilderie. Would you like to come along, Doctor? We have a spare horse." "I’d love to, Ned," the Doctor gratefully replied, "doing a little shopping then are you?" "Well, that’s one way of looking at it I suppose," Ned laughed grimly, "Give the Doctor the bay, Dan."
"Who’s on the grey?" asked Dan. "No," answered Ned irritably, "Who’s on the bay !" "The Doctor, you said !" snapped Dan, "So who’s on the grey?" "No, he’s on the flaming bay, you dumb arsed dickhead, now shut up and let’s go !"
With Ned leading they all set off for Jerilderie, the two dogs trotting behind and Dan Kelly still further back, muttering darkly to himself and scratching his head as he rode.
In Victoria they still talk of the famous day when Ned Kelly and his gang crossed the Murray River and held up the prosperous township of Jerilderie.
First the bushrangers mustered all the troopers and likely narks together and locked them up in the town gaol then, after cleaning out the contents of the local bank the outlaws announced a day of celebration.
The Kelly Gang proudly informed the cheering populace that their newly won riches were to be philanthropically invested in the local pub in payment for unlimited free grog for the town’s entire population !
During the morning, up and down the main street of Jerilderie breathtaking displays of outstanding horsemanship were conducted. They included horse breaking, rough riding and steeple chasing over improvised brush fences. There were impromptu races with ribbons for prizes and the outlaws even demonstrated incredibly skilful sharp shooting from horseback.
During the afternoon the revellers turned to a new sport that had lately become popular in the colonies. It was called "Beating the New Chums."
Newly arrived English immigrants were invited to nominate a team to play a sport, any sport provided the British had invented it. The New Chums were allowed no more than ten minutes to explain the rules and objects of that game to the colonials who then played the unfortunate Poms at it and invariably thrashed them. It was good fun and a pastime that remains popular in Australia to this very day.
The game chosen that day was cricket and of course the Doctor was chosen to play for the New Chums. He did draw grudging but spirited applause for his achievement in being one of the few batsman to score a few runs but he became the hero of the day when he took an absolutely brilliant catch at silly mid-on using only his mouth ! Ned expressed deep sympathy for the resultant reorganisation of the Doctor’s dentures but luckily he had a spare set in the Tardis.
At about five, just as the revellers’ stamina was beginning to flag, a breathless young lad on a lathered pony galloped in from an outlying selection. He made his way straight to Ned, urgently relayed a whispered message and was rewarded for his loyalty with a brand new gold Sovereign.
Ned fired a shot in the air and called his gang together. "The Traps are on their way Boys," he said, "time to hit that never-ending road. Good luck Doctor, just let the bay go when you’ve finished with him, he’ll soon find his way home to the squatter we pinched him from. Now don’t be too long leaving, the Demons will be here soon !"
"Thankth for your hothpitality Ned," smiled the Doctor, "I hope to meet you again thoon." "Just keep your eyes open when you’re in Melbourne, Doc," laughed Ned, "no doubt you’ll find me hanging around the place somewhere !"
The outlaw band cheerily waved goodbye to the townsfolk and headed off across the river. "Come on Lathie, Hobo," mumbled the Doctor, "we’d better hurry !" They only had about half a mile left to reach the Tardis when they heard the sound of galloping hooves and a loud shout from behind. "Pull up, you thieving Irish swine ! Stop in the name of the law !" The doctor glanced back. "It’th the Trooperth," he cried, "quick, run for your liveth !"
Down the dusty road flew the three friends as the Tardis drew ever nearer. A shot rang out, then another and another ! The Doctor’s perforated pork pie hat flew from his head and went wheeling down the road as his startled horse reared in fright !
The Doctor was no buckjumping rider ! Thump, down he came, fair on his rump in the middle of the road !
But the good Doctor was never beaten, he never gave up ! Quick as a flash he produced his sonic screwdriver and aimed it at the Tardis. At once the Time Machine dematerialised then in an instant it rematerialised right beside them. In they jumped, slammed the door and were gone before the troopers could reload !
The Traps reined in their horses and stared at the empty space where the Tardis had been. "That’s it for me, Men," declared the Captain, "I’ll never touch another drop of Mother Murphy’s Overproof Rum as long as I live !"
"Well bugger me up the old gum tree," his Sargent replied shakily, "You speak for yourself ! I for one will be touching several drops right now !" With trembling hands the traumatised Sargent pulled a big, brown bottle from his saddlebag and tipping it up, he drained every last burning drop without taking a single breath !
"Whew, that’s better," sighed the dipsomaniacal Sargent, "What do you say we amble on down to the Glenrowan pub? They do say it serves an uncommonly good drop of Ruddles County !"

The Paleotemperature Archive:
Mercenaria mercenaria the common quahog
Mercenaria mercenaria (also known as Venus mercenaria) - the common Atlantic quahog. This species typically attains ~10-15 cm in length (umbo to ventral margin) and lives to 10-30 years. It thrives in coastal waters near 20°C and actively calcifies between 8-29°C.

Afternoon wilks. hows things?
Vix wants some servicing and she's taking offers right now !
Apparently she doesnt compare with the Jodie Shaws of this world, but she drives a red escort, so is obviously a bit of a goer !
O o M: I wouldnt read the star hun, its well known for turning straight girls into, erm, "home- runner's".

You might try and smarm me up with a crisp carnation Vix but it will take more than that.
My favourite tipple is Stella - if you catch my meaning

Gooner
I'm gr8 mate - although in a weird sort of "in yer face" mood this afternoon.
Please, and this goes to all of you, take it with a valt of salt because I'm only joking.
Did you see that post over the weekend when some girl was asking if you found that girl from Aylesbury? Have you gotten any closer?

Wilky - I know what you need:-
1. Finish work asap 2. Join me and the penguins in Torquay 3. There will be soft music playing as you arrive 4. The bath will be filled with hot water and a muscle relaxing bathfoam 5. I'll bring you in a large glass of chilled chablis and stay to massage your v.back.
Now do you feel better??
