Yord you posted... that I said. '"I really don't understand your argument."
If you don't understand the argument then how can you be critical of it ? Are you just relying on what others tell you for judgment ?'
I meant I don't understand the basings of 'your' argument, which seem to be biased and only be based on your personal feelings. I am not saying that I don't believe in assisted suicide, because I do. My dad died last October with Pneumonia, brought upon by a fall, which had him bed ridden for a while, whilst he was suffering with Prostrate cancer. He was never going to die of that, that condition can be prolonged so long. But he died a terrible death, in hospital and with I've got to say, first class care. But he was really struggling, to die. He was encased, his head, in a plastic bubble which fed him pure oxygen. Lasted a few days and he was fully conscious. The doctors told us there was no hope, and that eventually he would fall asleep and go into a semi conscious state, which is exactly what happened and he slipped away not long after. I think the medical staff handled it right, and I think for terminally ill patients, their dignity along with pain control etc etc must be of paramount importance.
In answer to your question then Yord... 'Are you just relying on what others tell you for judgment ? ' No and certainly not yours, I'm relying on what I know, from experience and also, from the grace of God.

"If doctors and medical staff are positive or even hopeful that they will make a full or partial recovery"
I doubt very much youll find one doctor that will be possitive . Brain damage is brain damage , it dosnt recover , the best that can be achived is that the information in the damged area is relearned in another area of the brain . Try having a chat to a speech therapist and everyone will tell you they have not slightest clue what is going on in a damaged brain . They'll tell you what isnt going on certaintly

It is not horrifying, gee you have such a negative attitude. The sooner you can get to hospital following a stroke, the more of a chance they can treat the condition and therefore recover more quickly.

Yes dear thing I know that, having studied cognitive development for three years. So at least we agree on something, so knowing that - why do you seemingly wish to write them off as 'no hopers'?

You obviously have no faith in the NHS, which is kinda pointless then really. So if you have a stroke, what would be your wishes for treatment then?

I have no interest in writing them off . I could not give one stuff how many wards are full of them it dosnt mean a thing to me . All I know is that I do not wish to join them and my decision is known to people that I know will act on it. I would strongly advise you and anyone else to make that decsion now while you can because once your a vegatable it can not be made, or if your not certain take a trip to a stroke ward as I suggest.

Give me your NHS number, if your'e worried at all, I can make a few notes for ur request! Do you want a fag before you go?[/glow] [glow=red,2,300] Last requests n all that?[/glow]

do you really , if you found yourself in that situation would you want your family looking after you until they dropped ? Can you even imagine what that would entail ?

Good God! I don't often come to Chit Chat. Most of the time I spend in News. But this thread .... Staying Fit .... is hardly one I would have expected to find such vitriol.
I am totaly gob smacked at your responses Yord. Why on earth couldn't you keep your nose out of this thread if it upset your senses so much?
I hope your mother has the operation soon Pinx and that it is a success.
My mother had a stroke awhile ago but after two weeks she had another massive stroke and died. I just wish she had been offered an operation, but for her that was not to be.
On the bright side, I know three people (one very young and two over the age of fifty five) who have recovered from a stroke, so I do hope this works for your mum.
Take care and don't take Yord's words to heart. I'm sorry to say this, but he's obviously suffering from foot in mouth disease ... poor fella!

She went to sleep last night and hasn't woken up since. Yord is right, It happens to everyone, I shouldn't feel any different, I guess I was a asking for a miracle. Well I guess you do, when it's someone that you love. Sorry if this thread has offened or upset anyone.

I don't think you have any need to apologise for this thread. Threads are shared with strangers so you can't predict the way they'll go or the reactions they'll cause . It's human nature to wish for miracles -we all do it or have done it at one time .It's just that the miracles we wish for often differ.
