It looks odd to us who can point to a more or less unbroken linage of civilization and history back to the stone age. Canadians do something similar, if not quite as extreme. It boggles their mind I lived in a farm house built in 1640 before I came here, they have nothing approaching things that old.

Damn right lefties will back her up. She's essentially doing blackface, and lefties are forced to applaud her for it. And then there is Bruce Jenner. If he can change gender simply by claiming he feels like a woman, then people should be able to change race/ethnicity simply by saying so. My oh my, what a tangled web the left has created.

Nah,,,no big deal about this. Since she is black because she says she is, she should be able to collect benefits meant only for blacks, correct? She's black, therefore she deserves to get them.

Then again there is a spiritual identity.
We identify ourselves, but also with a particular culture .I used to self- identify as a Celt from either Ireland or Wales. There may be some truth in that, but I'm probably mostly English, brown hair and blue eyes.
I just like mystical places which are atmospheric.
I was born 10 years after the end of WW2 and as I grew up I felt England to be very regimented[Now I think it was the legacy of the war]
England has blossomed since those days
