"Race is a social construct." So there is no such thing as different skin colors,,,skin color is a social construct? Everybody on the planet has the same facial and body characteristics,,,differences in eyes, noses, etc. don't exist,,,they are just a social construct? I think the argument is that where we draw our racial lines is socially constructed / influenced. Using your example of skin colour. There are black people with similar complexions to white Italians and/or Bangladeshis but we don't call the latter two groups of people "black." All the examples you give can cross what we see as racial lines (eye colour, nose shape etc) so there is a social aspect to it as well as a biological inheritance.

I heard on tv a black man defending the woman, it turns out being black is a state of mind not necessarily a condition of birth, much like being gay like I said in response #1

What people look like isn't a social construct, no. But sticking the term 'race' on those looks is.

I believe that life choices are far more accurate predictor of one's chance of keeping out of poverty then race. if you are 14yo, have a child or two, dropped out of school, snack on booze and drugs your chances of success are slim, regardless of race
likewise if you manage to make it to 18 without a child, stay out of jail, graduate high school, go to some kind of secondary school( tech or collage) then you have a very good chance of living middle class, regardless of race

Yet there is a correlation between race and making these choices. So either blacks are thick wanton sluts or there is some systemic disadvantage.

I think it's more than simple choice though. For example "keeping out of poverty." What about being born into poverty in the first place? Things that may affect one's educational choices and the influences one is exposed too. But you're right on a lot of the rest. I think in the U.S. At least staying in school, getting married, only having a child within a stable relationship, staying out of jail, does improves one chances of living a middle class lifestyle irrespective of race.

You can be anything you want to be. All you need to do is say it.

Lets hear it from her defenders. Just keeps getting better and better. "NAACP Imposter Sued School Over Race Claims" "According to a Court of Appeals opinion, Dolezal’s lawsuit “claimed discrimination based on race, pregnancy, family responsibilities and gender.” She alleged that Smith and other school officials improperly blocked her appointment to a teaching assistant post, rejected her application for a post-graduate instructorship, and denied her scholarship aid while she was a student." "The court opinion also noted that Dolezal claimed that the university’s decision to remove some of her artworks from a February 2001 student exhibition was “motivated by a discriminatory purpose to favor African-American students over” her." "As detailed in the court opinion, Dolezal’s lawsuit contended that Howard was “permeated with discriminatory intimidation, ridicule, and insult.” tinyurl.com/okg2ah5And on top of everything else, she may be a plagarist. "Did #RachelDolezal Even Plagiarize Her Art Work?" tinyurl.com/owz6aw4Move aside, Caitlyn. You're sooo yesterday.

You are quite quite mad. Why on earth would I "wish it had never happened"? There is zero impact on my life from this story! As I said your obsession with it, is rather bizarre.

Good grief. The ethnicity of a petty official in Spokane is so important to you? I had no idea it was such a crucial battleground in the war against peace, justice, liberty and the American Way! It's slightly diverting as an example of Outstanding American Madness, but by the same token, is is your 'enjoyment' of it. Just remember to wipe the keyboard clean.

She's simply been exploiting a weakness in the system, the obsession with race. Maybe we can all learn something from this.

The only thing that comes to mind after reading that article is what a lucky, lucky white, black, part native american woman she is to have such warm, loving parents who respect her privacy and choices
