I think she was slandering them (in terms of them being abusive) so they publically defended themselves.
If my child decided to go around in "yellow face" and claim a biological inheritance they don't have, I wouldn't accept their "choice" and woudl lecture them for their racism. Ditto if they insisted they were really a dolphin.
I wouldn't make a big public deal of it (just get them the number of a therapist). If they had publically lied about me abusive however...

They probably feel aggrieved and her denying them, which is understandable. I don't have kids but would feel sad if they rejected me I imagine. It's like "Imitation of Life" in reverse (though less understandable). They also feel concerned about her mental health, understandably.
Either way, I am very much enjoying the mocking FB videos. Well done to the comedians out there.

Well yea, I agree with all that-but to blurt it all out to the Daily Mail together with a copy of the birth certificate that they obviously acquired for just that purpose ( the date on the copy is 9th June 2015) shows more of a tit for tat attitude. Something you expect loving parents to be above.

The parents of US civil rights worker Rachel Dolezal have been speaking about why they went public about their daughter's ethnicity.
Ruthanne and Larry Dolezal say their daughter is white - but the 37-year-old has considered herself black.
In their first British television interview, they told the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire they wanted to "speak the truth", and urged Rachel to seek help for her ''personal identity issues''.

I can't begin to understand why this is an international story any more than I understand why this a national story, must be a slow news week.
She is hardly the first person posing, or lying on an application to better her chances of getting what she is applying for.

Agree, I wouldn't have been the one to out my kid on this,
I also think the NAACP is being a little hypocritical firing her, they have always supported posers in the past, guess it is only good to pose if you are black pretending to be white

She resigned, though she may have been pushed, but that is far from clear. the NAACP has stood by her saying her work was good and she was a good advocate.

Something you expect loving parents to be above. I doubt the story originated with the Daily Mail. It's probably been reproduced from a local paper. Spokane isn't exactly the sort of place the Mail would cover, unless a Kardashian was there. I think the parents were being interviewed by a journalist about their daughter and this was mentioned in passing. It then, of course, became the story. I think the daughter is enstranged and there may even be some sort of legal fight going on between the parents and daughters. She comes across as a heavyweight loonbat. I suspect the parents are quite deranged themselves, and the daughter is simply mirroring this derangement in her own way.

This might help explain things: The 37-year-old white woman who made headlines for passing herself off as African-American was raised by parents who had a cult-like devotion to Christianity, according to a memoir written by her older brother. Larry Dolezal delivered both his children at home, and put on the birth certificates that Jesus Christ was the witness, Joshua Dolezal wrote.www.nydailynews.com/news/national/rachel-dolezal-grew-strict-christian-family-book-article-1.2260238Hard to beat religion for warping a person's perspective.

"Good grief. The ethnicity of a petty official in Spokane is so important to you?"
Not just me. Not by a long shot. She's pissed off a helluva lot of blacks and white liberals.

It's astonishing the amount that the right wing has got excited about someone who runs the chapter of the NAACP in Spokane. A town of 100,000 people in eastern Washington state, where there are almost no black people to start with. So, somebody who probably represents 2,000 people at most (and it's not like they voted for her). Or, you know, 0.005% of the US population.
I mean, now that the whole thing has gone ballistic and the details have been splashed everywhere, she looks something between a terrible and terribly misguided person. But it's amazing how the Fox-Mail-Post axis has totally frothed itself into a crazed rabid frenzy over a total nonentity and non-story.

Rick seems quite happy with the pitchforks-and-torches on this thread.
