KCTMO is a management company which runs properties owned by the Kensington and Chelsea Council, on their behalf. Presumably, the members of the board are paid for their efforts. It's most definitely not a tenants association. The 'residents' on the board aren't necessarily owners or tenants from Grenfell Tower. A percentage of the homes are privately owned on leasehold. The 'residents' might be multi-millionaire property owners.

All the stuff about KCTMO is bullshit. It operates on behalf of Kensington and Chelsea Council, so taking risks on fire safety would be a cost-cutting measure, agreed by the Council to save it money.

Rubbish. You have no idea how these things work. Mayor Khan said it's years of neglect, in spite of a multi million pound refurbishment. I don't doubt corners have been cut, probably using unskilled Labour (Lump Labour, and mostly migrants)

Building stands for half a century without burning down.
Building has adequate fire precautions for design intent.
Building is clad in combustible materials.
Building burns down.
Building's fire precautions turn out to be inadequate for new condition.

Neglect by a Tory council which represents the predominantly well-off residents of the borough. The cut-price refurbishment of the Grenfell Tower property put the lives of its, mostly low-income, residents at risk. Tenants of Grenfell Tower warned the Council of the fire-safety hazards they were ignored or threatened if they continued to protest.

This is how the disaster came about, according to a tenants activist group.
The London-wide Radical Housing Network,... of which the Grenfell Action Group is a member, said that the fire was "a horrific, preventable tragedy" that was the result of a "combination of government cuts, local authority mismanagement, and sheer contempt for council tenants and the homes they live in (Wikipedia)

The leader of Kensington Council today refused to say whether he will resign over his handling of the Grenfell inferno after Theresa May apologised for failures on the ground. Nick Paget-Brown, the Conservative leader of Kensington and Chelsea Council, insisted there had been an 'effective and coordinated' response to the blaze. But he admitted it had taken until Friday for the relief effort to be fully coordinated with other boroughs. Mrs May issued an apology for the way the aftermath of the devastating tower block fire, which killed at least 58, last night. ******* But the council leader insisted it was not the job of his officials to identify the dead. Mr Paget-Brown said: 'The council, councillors, officers of the council have been present in North Kensington very soon after they were notified the fire had started. 'I agree given the enormity of this situation there has to be a degree of coordination and asking for help from other boroughs. The Government made that clear on Friday when I spoke to the Secretary of State and the Prime Minister. 'We have got that help in place, I have been at the Westway Sports Centre this morning, which is the centre of that relief and humanitarian effort. 'The Red Cross, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, other representatives of London boroughs, the NHS, housing allocation team from the borough are all working together to solve this awful tragedy.' Yep, and the building should be made secure and left there, to remind everyone, and it is now an eye sore for the world to see.

Yeah, that's what we need: a futile gesture.
Have you considered a career in Brussels?

I heard this at the minute's silence for tfhe fire victims held at eleven o'clock today:
"They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them."
I felt physically sick. Talk about appropriation.

Not to worry, the BBC are conducting an inquiry as we speak. It's all the Tories fault and only St Jeremy of Notting Hill can bring back the dead.
