"Firefighters who bravely battled the blaze at Grenfell Tower have been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Up to 12 have been diagnosed with the disease – understood to mostly be digestive cancers and leukaemia – but more than 20 may be affected. Firefighters and survivors from the disaster have called for medical screenings as a list of rescuers who went to the scene in 2017 and have cancer is being drawn up. Strokes, heart disease and kidney failure are also understood to have been recorded among the heroes – possibly due to the physical toll on their bodies during the tragedy." www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/grenfell-firefighters-terminal-cancer-b2261470.htmlHave these people no honour at all?

It was the stress while expecting the building to collapse in its own footprint and crush them all.

Hahahahaha!
"One of Britain’s leading film and television directors, the award-winning artist Steve McQueen, has expressed his dismay at the lack of response by politicians to his film Grenfell, a powerful visual statement on the devastating London fire of 2017. The UK’s political class has, he says, largely avoided coming to watch it.
“Their silence says a lot about what is happening in this country. If MPs are turning their backs on something like this film, what does it mean?” McQueen told the Observer."
Could it be that your film is cynical, race-baiting, victimhood-farming, whiney dogshit?

It certainly could be that McQueen’s films are mostly incredibly boring and a bit hectoring. And almost nobody ever wants to watch a documentary feature because normal people watch films for entertainment. Watching a film about Tory scum burning poor black people to death for their jollies without any redemption or penalty or vengeance at the end has no entertainment value at all.
We can be upset about the response to the Grenfell fire without thinking his film is the important aspect of this.

I might watch it, if only to pick up tips on the dry-curing of fish.

A former hat factory, apparently, about to be converted to flats. Planning issue? Insurance job? Grenocide?

Hat factory? All that burnt cork. Useful for blacking up, I suppose.

"It has been reported that the building that caught fire this morning in Johannesburg CBD is a hijacked building full of illegal immigrants."
It's interesting to hear other people's inflections. "Hijacked building" is quite effective. I often feel like I live in a hijacked country.

I didn’t even know he made a film about Grenfell. He is an incredible film maker (Hunger, Shame, 12 Years A Slave, and of course his short series Small Axe) so I will definitely add this to the watch list. Also he should not be surprised by the Tory response. The Tories are Lucifers representatives on earth. They don’t care about burning people especially when those people are mainly poor and brown.

Politicians of all parties ignored his film. Maybe it was just shite.
