Slow news day at the BBC, or are they all just fixated with US media at the moment? "Drake has had his fair share of beef with other rappers, but some people might not have seen his latest row with a basketball player coming. The rap megastar is famously a fan of Toronto Raptors - the NBA's only Canadian team - and is regularly seen courtside watching games. He's also said to have made friends with current and former players, including DeMar DeRozan, who returned to the Raptors' Scotiabank Arena as a member of opponents Sacramento Kings on Saturday." I barely know who Drape is, and I don't know anyone that I think might be even slightly interested in who he is having interpersonal challenges. Have the featured this in “news” or merely the entertainment / opinion pages? A link would help….

The BBC is obsessed by diverse youth culture, like this so-called "Duck" character. I would hardly put Drake in the “diverse youth culture” category…. You’re just an old man.

The trick is to ignore any stories on the Beeb's website (and elsewhere, probably) which have the words "I" or "my" in the title. As like as not, you'll find they're some kind of sob story and/or implied victimhood. Avoid.

I had a child and had to spend money feeding it! It's an outrage!

Governments, economists and social commentators globally are crying over low and falling birth rates. So it’s unsurprising to see stories covering the cost of parenthood given this will be relevant to low birth rates.

More gyno-focused reportage from Auntie. This is about parents and cost of children. Not women.

Side note - I had no idea baby formula companies were banned from advertising.
Seems a little patronising. I doubt many women’s decision whether or not to breastfeed is based on TV ads.

Agreed, but it's there to not dilute the message about "breast is best". Formula milk is to breast milk as broad-spectrum antibiotics are to targeted antibiotics. It is unlikely to damage the baby's microbiome, but it may well not replace the specific antibodies which the mother would normally pass on. There is research going on into this at Swansea University in cahoots with the local NHS Trust, so perhaps we may want to watch for developments.

I think the Breast is Best message is probably true but also a crappy one to hear for mothers who can't breastfeed for whatever reason.
That's an aside. I bet if the formula makers were allowed to spend money on advertising, the price would not drop.

If mother’s are not opting for that there is typically a good reason.

If you think young women without children are interested in the price of formula you have never met or spoken to a young woman in your life. (Sorry this is hilarious! Trying to imagine me and my female mates, as 21 years olds discussing the price of baby formula. LOL!!!)
