I agree rev. One of my sons does clay pigeon shooting on a range out in the country with others who want to pursue the sport. He has 2 rifles, always locked away in a gun cabinet when not in use, plus he keeps the ammo separately in another locked cabinet in his house. Personally I don't understand his hobby at all, but if he enjoys getting together with his friends and blasting silly things out of the sky to see who scores the most points, so be it.
Absolutely no need to let civilians have access to assault rifles. The latest thing is trying to smuggle them into Canada for gang use. Thousands of weapons are seized at the border every year, some of them being carried in by asylum seekers ffs. They have no idea of our strict gun laws. Note to asylum seekers, smuggling guns into Canada won't get you a golden ticket, you will be jailed and then deported.
Anyway, as I've said earlier this kind of school shooting seems to take place regularly in the US and if the government won't protect children by tightening up the laws, then it will continue. I'm getting quite cynical about it now. Obviously I'm sad for the families who have lost a child, but when the government doesn't care and waffles on about mental illness, then why should anybody care?

Well I do recall saying quite a while back, there's one thing that will always survive, and that's religion.

One hand actually doing something is more use than two hands praying.

Just watched a couple of interviews with parents. They're very very angry. I hope they channel that anger into something that will make a difference.

Nothing will happen, well that's not true, mass shootings will continue to happen, it's now American culture.

yeah, the profits of the gun manufactures are far more important than a school full of dead teenagers. They paid good money for all those GOP law makers and they expect they'll do what they were bought to do, nothing.

apparently there's a thing in the states called gunsexuals, people turned on and sexually aroused by firearms. Explains quite a lot really

President Donald Trump quietly signed a bill into law Tuesday rolling back an Obama-era regulation that made it harder for people with mental illnesses to purchase a gun. The rule, which was finalized in December, added people receiving Social Security checks for mental illnesses and people deemed unfit to handle their own financial affairs to the national background check database. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/trump-signs-bill-revoking-obama-era-gun-checks-people-mental-n727221I don't see how this would have helped, this 19yo was not on Social Security, well as he had no diagnosis of mental illness, just that he was a nut obsessed with guns (time we saw that in DSM 5 imo) neither would the proposal for including mental health problems to the background checks you claim the dems stopped. fact is, all talk about mental health being the real issue here is just bollox, though its the typical mealy mouthed response from snowflake and co, ffs the cnut didn't even mention guns in his responses. As information about the perpetrator emerges, a relative confides to a newspaper that the “troubled youth” who committed the mass murder was on psychiatric medications – you know, those powerful, little understood, mind-altering drugs with fearsome side effects including “suicidal ideation” and even “homicidal ideation.” Yet the predictable response from the press is always the same – not only a total lack of curiosity, but disdain for any who ask the question, as though connecting psychiatric meds to mass shootings is pursuing a “conspiracy theory.” Read more at www.wnd.com/2018/02/media-ignoring-1-crucial-factor-in-florida-school-shooting/#HP3GZriGI9z2GaLx.99I don't think the NRA would oppose adding a restriction of giving those on these drugs a gun, they could easily be added to the deny list at the FBI data base, that should be done when the DR prescribes these drugs, it should be maybe a 2 year ban and then reviewable

Very interesting...

So, the NRA would rather stigmatise those with mental health issues than address the problem?
I am astonished.
I bet they wouldn't want it enforced too heavily, if a ban was put into place for anyone who's ever been on psychiatric medicine from owning any firearms. "Put on a deny list" is OK, but if that deny list was properly and regularly checked, if anyone being prescribed meds had to give up their arms and the FBI actually checked for this and enforced it... The NRA would freak the f**k out.

you have to admit that the likely hood of getting a gun ban passed is highly unlikely this year,,,, agree with it or not
you could however get a restriction on those with mental health issues and/or receiving these drugs that have known side effect of causing killer thoughts passed, are the gun grabbers afraid that if this kinda were to pass that it would work?,, what else would they have to lose?
