news.sky.com/story/twenty-hurt-in-shooting-at-florida-school-11250721There have been "numerous fatalities" and at least 14 people injured in a shooting at a Florida high school. The attack began at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, northwest of Fort Lauderdale, just before 3pm on Wednesday afternoon, local time. The school, which has around 3,000 students, was placed on a "code red" lockdown and television footage later showed dozens of people running and walking away from the school. Some were seen being placed in ambulances, while others were being treated at the scene. Broward Country Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie confirmed: "There are numerous fatalities. "It's a horrific situation." Still guns don't kill people, and whats really needed is more guns, many many more....

mine too, its a tragedy so many of their fellow countrymen and their gov see a few of them dying now and then as acceptable as long as they can continue with their gun fetish.
2 dead it looks like.

How terrifying for those high school students. Still it's America where it seems just about anybody can own a gun. Waiting to hear what Trump has to say about this.

He tweeted the usual meaningless platitude about thoughts and prayers, while what's really needed is action

"America 'the exception' in mass shootings Connecticut Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty is reminding Americans that these sort of incidents only ever seem to happen in the US."
That was my first thought, too.

"Suspect The suspected shooter was identified as Nikolas Cruz,[11][12] a 19-year-old former student of the school. His former math teacher said Cruz had threatened other students in the past year, leading to his ban from campus when wearing a backpack. He was later expelled for disciplinary reasons.[11][13] A student said, "Honestly, a lot of people were saying it was gonna be him… [Cruz would] shoot up the school."[14]
Cruz was a member of the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps. A former classmate said he had a lot of anger management issues and often joked about guns and gun-related violence, including "shooting up establishments".[15] Another former classmate described him as "super stressed-out all the time and talked about guns a lot and tried to hide his face".[14]"

Florida has particularly slack gun rules, even by US standards. It's utterly nuts. You sometimes think of Florida as gay people partying on South Beach, Miami, and kids going on roller coasters in the amusement parks around Orlando. But the rest of the state is often spectacularly stupid and redneck.
How the hell was someone like this allowed into an Officers' training corps? Time to shut down the US military.

So apart from shutting the military and introducing apparently “Free Movement because it’s an absolutely f**k**g brilliant thing” what is to be done?? Any sensible suggestions welcome?? No POTUS has ever gone close to addressing the issue and the voters have never showed any interest in changing the status quo! Throw in 300 million guns ..open borders and the fact the gov were unable to ban alcohol or drugs with any success ...what is to be done ? Ideas on a postcard etc..

Throw in 300 million guns ..open borders and the fact the gov were unable to ban alcohol or drugs with any success ...what is to be done ? Ideas on a postcard etc.. lots can be done, for example last time they had an assault weapons ban the number of them in circulation dropped, and as larger mags were also banned they saw a lot less shootings using them. In states where they have some gun control laws enacted shootings drop, some have seen a 40% drop, if you want a gun make em pass a licencing exam and have them hold third party insurance. nothing works if you all you do is nothing.

Fair enough about introducing tougher gun laws.... Given the number of guns already in circulation I doubt that anyone apart from non threatening citizens would give up their arms. This presumably would play into the arms of the crim community..?? I lived in Chicago for 3 years where the gun laws have always been v strict ... but don t go near Southside projects or west side gang areas after dark !! St Barry & his dem successors have done nothing to address this .. although the gun problem trancends party politics
