I could only have gone better if he'd lost a hand. They would have been able to dine out on that forever.
A lad I was at school with claimed to have seen a bloke lose a leg to a crocodile in a zoo in Kenya.

"A scientist dubbed ‘the human swan’ for flying around Britain in a motorised paraglider".
Worst PR name evah. Her colleague has been Donald Ducked though.
Also, when she flew from Russia,I imagine the sea bit was done on a boat. It's all a bit wank, isn't it? Glad she's enjoying her hobby, but it's not exactly Shackleton, is it?

It might have worked better if he had lost a hand.

In a topical illustration of just how shite France is, I offer you "slacklining" from the Eifel Tower. "Crowds lining the banks of the Seine and visiting the Eiffel Tower in Paris this weekend were treated to an unusual sight -- a slackliner charting an unusual path across the skies above their heads. Frenchman Nathan Paulin walked the 600-meter slackline from the Eiffel Tower to the Chaillot Theater on the other side of the Seine, in a trip that took the 27-year-old just half an hour. However, this is not the first time Paulin has attempted this feat -- he previously walked a similar route from the Eiffel Tower in December 2017, for a televised charity fundraiser. When he first did it, it set the world record for the longest urban highline walk with a safety harness by a man -- a record that remains unbroken today. At some points sitting down and lying on the slackline during Saturday's performance, Paulin's performance drew rapturous applause from crowds watching below and from the Eiffel Tower." www.cnn.com/2021/09/19/europe/france-paris-slackline-eiffel-tower-seine-walk-scli-intl/index.htmlNot the first time this had been done even by himself, took him half an hour to walk 600m, stopped for a fuxking siesta, was wearing a safety harness. Are they sure this wasn't a Duke of Edinburgh Award thing?

Another pointless pursuit, can't see the appeal at all. www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-60097918A 75-year-old Frenchman who was trying to row across the Atlantic Ocean has been found dead at sea, his support team said. Adventurer Jean-Jacques Savin had previously made the crossing in a large barrel in 2019. "Unfortunately, this time the ocean was stronger than our friend, who loved sailing and the sea so much," a statement on his Facebook page said.

I was expecting this thread to revive! I may have mentioned before that my extreme-stuff friend has done the slightly more mainstream version of this, in the Talisker Challenge race. He was one of about 5 solo racers in his year. It still f**k**g stupid.

Good for him.

I've nowt to do with scouts UK.
Funnily I'm cooking this weekend for a cub and beaver camp, it will be my last camp and next week at the groups year end BBQ it will be my last event as I'm moving away and anyway I've not been active with sections for a while just doing safety and back country training for adults.
BG has always been a self serving wanker btw. Him doing odd stuff like this surprised me not one bit

The next chief scout will be trans, black, and/or a lesbian.
