Jaffa Corbyn gets the bum's rush. "Jeremy Corbyn asks about the destruction of the landing cards of "a generation of Commonwealth citizens". This was carried out by the Home Office in 2010, when Theresa May was home secretary. The prime minister says "the decision was taken in 2009 under a Labour government"." Oh dear Jez, another misfire. He's getting his arse served to him on a plate again at PMQs. www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-politics-parliaments-43783921

But she implemented it. Christ, that woman's something else. Her record as Home Sec is widely acknowledged as ham-fisted and incompetent.

I'd blame Labour for anything, but the Tories are a better target being such hideously incompetent toffs.

When you’re a right wing party and the Daily Mail is calling your immigration policy shambolic then you know you’ve f**k*d up majorly...

I love that the FCO's advice to people who've lived legally in Britain for half a century and got deported to Jamaica is "talk with a Jamaican accent". Yes, guys, we know the least offensive thing to anyone is a fake Caribbean accent. "Ya, mon! Where id da old person home?" All the other advice is basically how to avoid getting shot because Jamaica's so dangerous. Nobody in government stopped to wonder if it was a bad idea to send people to countries that are super dangerous.

Don't go out at night. Pretend you're poor. Sound like a bad white reggae band from the 70s.

What the arse is a remittance service? I've never felt the need to ask a stranger for help with reforming one anyway.

Is that the FCO? Seems a bit ungrammatical for our mandarins.

Further FCO advice to visitors to Jamaica.
Rule #10: Under no circumstances allow Joe to go mango walk.
Rule #11: There is no #11.

Bloody hell, what a useless turd Corbyn is. I almost feel sorry for the Labour MPs who have to sit and watch him being boxed and buggered week in, week out. Self-inflicted too.

It's all here...It's fcuking disgusting. If we're deporting anyone, let's start with religious fanatics.

Oh. And this re: whodunnit? "First Downing Street claimed the decision to destroy the Windrush-era landing cards was made by the Home Office in 2010 for data protection reasons. Then the Home Office passed the buck to a 2010 decision by the UK Border Agency. "At PMQs, the prime minister tried to shift the blame onto the last Labour government but was undermined by her own spokesperson minutes later, who then stated it was an operational decision, which Labour ministers would not have been aware of. Her spokesperson couldn't even say when the cards were destroyed." linkSo, the Tories then.

It's good to know that the UK Border Agency is going to have a ton more power, post-Brexit. Hurrah. I know I get mocked for complaining about extra paperwork, but if the fuckers at the UKBA are making you fill in paperwork, then destroying it, then deporting you because you don't have the paperwork (or because you didn't fill it in absolutely correctly) then, well, it is actually a problem.

I wouldn't worry. It was Labour's f**k-up. But they won't be in power again any time soon.

As I've just read elsewhere, the Windrush generation all arrived pre-independence and therefore arrived as British subjects and wouldn't have filled in landing cards. Landing cards seem to be a red herring.
Meanwhile, it's all fundamentally May's fault. If the Home Office had recognised any alternative evidence such as employment records or tax records, there'd be no problem. Instead she deliberately set up a nasty "hostile environment" for immigrants which placed the burden on the individual to provide specific documentation that the state never actually provided.
This is all because May wanted to give the foreigns a massive kicking when she was Home Sec, and she didn't give a f**k about the consequences provided the foreigns got kicked.
