Yeah I mean what were Labour thinking burning all "zer paperz"? From what I can gather they were destroyed due to the protection of information act. An example of beauracracy tripping itself up? Either way any of these people who have lost jobs or suffered financial losses should be reimbursed fully, you can't let some desk jokey fook peoples lives up and just say sorry!

They were destroyed because they were irrelevant. Nobody was going to need them.
Until the Home Secretary in 2013 decided that she needed to create what she described as a "hostile environment" for people who weren't white and English enough, and try and scare them out of the country.
And then she created paperwork requirements for people to prove they were resident - that needed stuff that was already destroyed. But she either was too malicious to care or too incompetent to check whether this would be a problem. And she was obviously too simple or too nasty to suggest that perhaps other paperwork could be used instead.

Unfortunately that would appear to be the case. Either too malicious to care or too incompetent to check whether this would be a problem
and in trying to be fair to her you have to go with: Incompetent.

This could actually be the first genuine foot wrong the Tories have made. Still mostly Labour's fault, mind.

People who've worked with May say she's malicious and vindictive. I think she's a cunt.

I blame Enoch Powell. It was him that invited the Windrushers over.

Yeah I know thousands of people who are intimately acquainted with May and every one of them says she is a salt of the earth, wonderful, humane woman.

Yep, totally. It's yours Labour; own it. Also it was Alan Johnson that coined the "hostile environment" phrase. Labour. 100%. One. hundred. per. cent.

So cards destroyed under Tessa as HS and ongoing threats of deportation under the Tories. They really are scum.

Nah. The whole thing was set in train under Labour. Deliberate, racist spite.

So, an administrative decision that no politicians were involved with, that was easy to make because nobody in a grown up administration could conceivably think of a policy where you'd need decades old landing cards.
Then someone decided to create a policy that needed them, which is frankly bonkers enough. Then they didn't even bother to check whether they existed. Which looks like frightening levels of incompetence and apathy.
Then they decided not to allow alternatives once they discovered the landing cards were missing, because "Hostile to Foreigns". Which looks like frightening levels of malice, too.
Basically, Tezza shows herself to be both evil and useless here.

“Many have been denied access to NHS treatment” Really? I find that difficult to believe I don’t. I had to pay to see a doctor when I visited the UK. NHS drop in centre in Boots. 50 quid.

Surely evil and incompetent are the worst possible combination of qualities in an individual (nevermind a leader.)
