Another fine "new" citizen .... I wonder if he votes for Christmas. "A man has been jailed for more than eight years after a CCTV operator saw him raping a woman. Turkey Al-Turkey, 26, of Cwm Level Road in Brynhyfryd, Swansea, attacked the woman outside the city's Civic Centre on 18 July. Swansea Crown Court heard the victim had no recollection of the incident and a date rape drug may have been used. Al-Turkey, an asylum seeker from Iraq, was sentenced to eight years and eight months after pleading guilty to rape." www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-58585788

“Turkey Al-Turkey”?
That must be a wind up.
“ Due to his early guilty plea he will be eligible for release after six years.”
That’s a fairly pathetic sentence.

Well, well, well .... butter wouldn't melt, eh? "British sprinter Bianca Williams has been banned from driving despite telling a court it would jeopardise her chances of going to the 2024 Olympics. Williams, 29, failed to tell police who was driving a Tesla Model 3 when an alleged offence took place. The athlete claimed a ban would make it difficult for her to get to training. But magistrates at Lavender Hill rejected her claim that she could not use public transport and suspended her from driving for six months. Williams failed on three occasions to reply to letters from the police between April and June 2023. In October, two Metropolitan Police officers were sacked over a stop and search of Williams and her partner, the Portuguese sprinter Ricardo Dos Santos, 28, in 2020." www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-67613292

I don’t really understand what she was banned for. Not filling in a form? Given that the Met have been done good and proper for trying to stitch her up already, I can imagine that she might think the Met were taking the piss and trying to harass her by asking her to fill in tons of pointless forms. Instead she seems to have admitted that she f**k*d up.
Seriously, though, you should get driving bans for being an utter thingy in a car. Using a phone. Being drunk. Taking more than 4 seconds to overtake another vehicle on the motorway (I’m looking at you, 58mph lorry passing 57.5mph lorry). Not giving cyclists a 1 meter berth when passing them.
I’m not sure pencil-pushing related stuff should really be a driving-ban offence.

She was on 11 points to start with. She should be in jail really. Obstructing justice, like that Labour bird.

Was she on 11 actual points, or 11 points from Met Officer Constable Savage for stepping on the cracks in the pavement?

Figures. Also how can you be banned from driving for choosing not to respond to the police? What a batty rule.

“ Having pleaded guilty to three charges of failing to tell police the identity of a driver,” Why on earth should you be required to hand over this information? Isn’t it for the police to determine that themselves? I could understand if she have a false name but how is choosing to keep shtum a crime. (That said I have reduced sympathy for people that represent themselves. Seems so arrogant.)

The met do appear have a bit of thing for her. Whenever you make a complaint about the police, especially one that is upheld, the police will go out of their way to subsequently harass you and generally make your life hell. Happened to am old friend of my mom’s.
