well this was from 1989 to 2000, stopped by Labour, though obviously it took em quite a while to go through every feck up the tories were responsible and fix them, so big was the task.

Hidden by Labour. Unearthed and investigated by the Tories. Not that it's a party political issue, of course. But Labour killed these people.

Do any think that this is unusual?
Enter a NHS Hospital after you retire, and face the consequences, if you don’t get a regular visitor, your life is at risk.

Yeah, there's something of Logan's Run about this (except with all the nubility replaced with varicose veins and the smell of damp digestive biscuits, wee and lavender.)

Good post. Got an image of a young naked Jenny Agutter in my head now (it was that or the damp digestives and wee).

Moggie's a Plymothian, so it's more like "Aaaaaaaaaah Jessica, 6."

"Patients were let down by the healthcare system "at every level" said inquiry chair Rt Revd Graham James, who identified "multiple individual and organisational failures".
"There was a culture of avoidance and denial, an alarming loss of corporate memory and an offloading of responsibility at every level," he said.
"This capacity for wilful blindness is illustrated by the way in which Paterson's behaviour and aberrant clinical practice was excused or even favoured.
"Many simply avoided or worked round him. Some could have known, while others should have known, and a few must have known."

Mrs. B a nd I stopped off for a coffee in Shoreham yesterday at about 11 o'clock. We got chatting to another customer who was very pleasant and probably in her early sixties. Anyway, we nattered for ten minutes or so and then she went.
Mrs. B asked "I wonder what she does when she's not drinking coffee in smart coffee shops at 11 o'clock on a Monday morning? It must be stressful."
Now, this was uncharacteristically acid and gittish for my wife. The lady had managed, at least three times, to mention that she works for the NHS (part time) and that it was "stressful, of course."
Every time she said it, there was a slight, pregnant pause, as if she was expecting a standing ovation.
That's a long way from a unique encounter with Team Angels.

I had a cyst on the back of my hand came up in 24hrs after wood cutting. Doctor next day, echography last Thursday, saw surgeon today, appointment for next Tuesday to remove. 12 days from start to finish.
State pays. But we still have to pay €130 a month for two of us, which maybe the UK should think about.

Which State pays? France?
It strikes me that they'd be better off ditching the monthly subscription: isn't that an unnecessary burden if they're going to treat you anyway?

Because OOTLG had an operation in France? Seems a little extreme.
