Are you checking French sites or English? But anyway our GP who's a personal friend takes home about a grand a week which tends to support the site you found. But she's a newbie.

Funny thing I was reading on a French site (not in French mind as that's a bit too technical for my French) was that the scales for docs in hospitals are nationally regulated and are very flat: say, 42k rising to 48k over eight years or so.

TBF that's not a lot of dough for the responsibility but then again, it's steady work, with no particular risks really. Wouldn't appeal to me really. I like the idea of helping folks but not digging around in their guts.

I suggested to my lad that he might want to be a medic and he looked at me as if I had said something improper.

The nurses in the UK get paid less than the they do here by quite a bit, starting sallery here for a full time nurse translates to 41499.03 quid, but in the UK its only 24907.00

Can't find GP wages cos they are self employed here so the more they work the more they get paid, though one of our hospice Dr's is English and he earns more working here than he ever did in the UK.

I’ve heard nurses get paid quite a bit more in Oz too.

Although how much nurses get in other countries is utterly irrelevant as to how much they should ask for in the UK.

Depends on the docs' regime. Conventionné is regulated, non-conventionné isn't. Conventionné means you've signed up with the security sociale. Non is a bit more like a private doctor. The security sociale reimbursement varies on the two types.

10k Euro a month doesn't seem like much for a doctor. You do a hundred years of training, every single bit of work you do risks killing someone, it's a pretty tough gig. I'd pay them basically 10 times what anyone working in finance gets paid.

The finance companies are private. They decide the wages and if they could get away with paying everybody that works for them minimum wage, they already would be doing so.

Although I think Hong Kong, New York, Singapore, Frankfurt would love for the UK to nationalise the entire FS industry and pay everybody that works in it, irrespective of role, minimum wage…

What they should really do is just shut down all those industries and have an night-time arrest of everyone who works in them and send them to the gulags to mine salt for a few years. I was just feeling a bit soft in my previous comments.

They value the work Healthcare workers do would be my guess, same as here.
