Oh well wouldn't that be sweet and nice if we could have wars where only the deserving parties are killed and maimed. Unfortunately that situation does not nor ever will occur on this planet . Get real. And dry your hands.

For as long as the ceasefire holds then the killing stops. I hope it holds and that some permanent, peaceful solution can be found.
Unlike you I don't happen to think that war is a good thing and that there can never be a peaceful solution.
I welcome the ceasefire, from both sides,at least for a little while there is a chance for civilians to have some respite from the slaughter and fear.

I guess you mean just after the 100th Qassam was lobbed over? That's politically rather than militarily significant. The politicians, had they given priority to protecting Israeli civilians in the border area, had options which they didn't choose to exercise. Namely, evacuation of the most vulnerable, observing the truce conditions, loosening or lifting the blockade of Gaza, negotiating with Hamas for a renewal of the truce. The Israeli government preferred the iron fist For electoral reasons, for one thing.

A truce means a ceasefire by both sides. Since the Israeli army killed 403 Palestinians in Gaza in 2008 (before the current invasion), this is more like business as usual rather than the observation of a truce, although you have to look at the month by month figures (as with the rocket attacks) to reach a conclusion. An attack by Israel on militants inside Gaza is a breach of the truce. It could be justified by Israel if it were a direct return of fire to an attack on Israel, but not otherwise. The truce also had conditions which Israel didn't observe, specifically the lifting of the blockade which reduced supplies of food and other essentials to crisis level in Gaza. take a look bert, details of crossing closure after attacks and who fired and when, in case your interested that is! June 18th is the day before the truce and you may note who was firing what and when, from that date on! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_rocket_and_mortar_attacks_in_Israel_in_2008

C'mon Puffin. Grow a pair. And stop being so namby pamby. It is disgusting. The world is not all sweetness and light and lalalala , get over it. There are evil people out there. They must be hunted down and killed. We can't just stick our head up our arses and wish them away.

I think my husband would be both shocked and disappointed if I did grow a pair!
Do you think I don't know that the world isn't all sweetness and light? I had relatives killed by terrorists in NI.. In the end there has to be a peaceful solution and an end to killing each other's children. I happen to want it to be sooner rather than later, before more people who have done nothing but get in the way have to suffer. I'm not alone in that wish. Leaders from all over the world are working towards that end. Why do you think it's a bad thing?
