I've said it before, but I suspect a visit to an abattoir would break my heart. I've no business being a carnivore.

If I had to I'd kill the animals I eat myself but I don't have to.

I laid a concrete floor in an abbatoir once. That was grim work.

I spent a day in an abattoir. A big one near Slough. They slaughter Cows; Pigs and Sheep. They very quickly became Beef; Pork and Lamb.
I have no problem with it. The animals were treated as humanly as possible in the circumstances. (Is humanly the best word here?)
Anyway - we as a species we eat other animals and we have places where they are slaughtered and people who do it for us.

In the animal world some animals literally tear pieces of flesh off and eat it as their prey screams. We could be worse.

Everything survives at the expense of something else.you eat something else or you die. That's the rules. We didn't make them and I'm not stupid enough to think we can come up with something better.

Two men who ate dead squirrels outside a vegan food stall in protest against veganism have been convicted of public order offences and fined. Deonisy Khlebnikov, 22, and Gatis Lagzdins, 29, bit into the furry animals at the Soho Vegan Food Market in Rupert Street, London, on 30 March. The pair denied using disorderly behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress at a trial at City of London Magistrates' Court in June. They were found guilty on Monday. Natalie Clines, from the CPS, said: "Deonisy Khlebnikov and Gatis Lagzdins claimed they were against veganism and were raising awareness about the dangers of not eating meat when they publicly consumed raw squirrels. www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-49084466Can you imagine the pearl clutching of those on the vegan stall, though really, a raw squirrel? You could have got them just as worked up with a burger or a chicken drumstick.

It's a weird thing to do anyway.
Logically, there is no reason to protest. If you believe veganism = malnutrition then vegans will die young, leaving the omnivores. So f**k 'em!
Good point though, may as well have eaten a juicy bloody steak in front of them - doubt that would have made the news mind.
