The Accountant: Ben Affleck as a bad-ass autistic accountant and the ubiquitous JK Simmons as the federal agent on his trail. Very good.
Melancholia: two sisters in a deteriorating relationship as a rogue planet hurtles toward earth. Good cast and very nicely filmed. Has a dreamlike quality to it. Won't be everyone's cup of tea but I enjoyed it.
Mending the Line: vets with PTSD grapple to come to grips with their lives. Laudable subject but mostly falls flat as it tries too hard to pull your heartstrings.

Now, there's a biopic I would watch.

I wondered out loud why we haven't seen a biopic of Shirley Bassey yet, and Mrs B said that it will probably have to wait until she's croaked it. Spot on, of course. Her family life has been quite sporty, I understand.

The beautiful game, light hearted drama about the homeless world cup. Not bad.
Turning point. The bomb and the cold war. Good documentary series, well worth a watch.

I'm enjoying it. It's stylish and slow. We're enjoying it. It's very picturesque, but I have to confess that I find the B&W disappointing. I'm usually fine with it, but it feels contrived here. Also, I suspect that it makes production cheaper: it's a cinematic trick to stop you noticing non-period features.

Gran Turismo, the story of Jann Mardenborough, which I'd never heard about before. Pretty incredible story, which made it a good movie.

Also, I suspect that it makes production cheaper: it's a cinematic trick to stop you noticing non-period features. I liked the black and whiteyness of it. I half thought they might go colour when it got to Italy too but happily not. I'd have thought it was more expensive to do black and white these days since it's pretty rare. You'd need to find all the production specialists etc.

Oh, there's a TV of that? The book was very enjoyable but I began to wonder about how much it stuck to retro themes of how noble the nobility are.
