Former President Bill Clinton torched Donald Trump on night two of the Democratic convention, essentially calling the incumbent president a lazy internet troll who doesn’t deserve to be hired for a second term. “If you want a president who defines the job as spending hours a day watching TV and zapping people on social media, [Trump’s] your man,” Clinton said. If America wants to defeat the pandemic and restore the economy, the former president continued, voters will need to elect a leader who is actually interested in going to work. “To beat [the coronavirus], you’ve actually got to go to work and deal with the facts,” he said. Clinton said: At a time like this, the Oval Office should be a command center. Instead, it’s a storm center. There’s only chaos. Just one thing never changes: His determination to deny responsibility and shift the blame. The buck never stops there. Now you have to decide whether to renew his contract or hire someone else. If you want a president who defines the job as spending hours a day watching TV and zapping people on social media, he’s your man. Denying, distracting and demeaning works Clinton said: At a time like this, the Oval Office should be a command center. Denying, distracting and demeaning works great if you’re trying to entertain or inflame. But in a real crisis, it collapses like a house of cards. COVID just doesn’t respond to any of that. To beat it, you’ve actually got to go to work and deal with the facts. Our party is united in offering you a very different choice, a go-to-work president. A down-to-Earth, get-the-job-done guy. A man with a vision to take responsibility, not shift the blame. Concentrate, not distract, unite, not divide. Our choice is Joe Biden. Voters should hire a real president, not a man who likes to play one on TV It’s been clear since day one that Donald Trump sees himself as a glorified internet troll and cable news pundit, not a leader with real responsibilities. Over the past six months, as the coronavirus wreaked havoc all across America, the consequences of electing such a man have been catastrophic. More than 170,000 Americans have died from the coronavirus and millions are out of work. Instead of developing an aggressive response to these twin crises, Trump has tried to muddle through by passing the buck and holding made-for-TV press conferences. In November, voters will have the opportunity to hire a real president, not just a con man who likes to play one on TV. www.politicususa.com/2020/08/18/bill-clinton-calls-trump-a-lazy-internet-troll-who-must-be-fired-in-november.html

You think it's depressing and divisive to propose creating tons of new good jobs while massively upgrading the country's infrastructure?

Maybe it's no surprise that Republicans can't win the support of the majority of Americans when they want to leave the bridges and roads to rot, to make sure that rural communities don't have broadband or transport infrastructure, when they want to poison the people outside the major cities with infected water, when they want to make sure America doesn't have the manufacturing infrastructure to make its own medical equipment...

Who doesn't have broadband? It is Trump that has been getting manufacturing to move back to the USA, it is the dems who want to run them back to China, Who doesn't have water? Ford and GM have been making respirators, and I hear are exporting them, though I also here that GM is pulling back, sees that the demand is no longer there, roads are being built, though most roads are not federal, it is the State, and Local government that builds most of them,
if dems were to win there would be nothing to transport, or no fuel to transport it, or no need for roads, they would send manufacturing back to China where they think it belongs

The reps, having lost the majority, are spiraling into conspiracy theories, extremest cranks, corruption and massively undemocratic practices. Trumps managed to kill more Americans in 6 months than in all wars since the end of WWII, and there is no end to it, its gonna top 200,000k by fall, the economy is fcuked, largely due to his inability to show any leadership on the pandemic, and there is no end to the mess in sight. The cult is in full on panic mode throwing all manner of nonsense about. Though its worth mentioning this is not simply as a result of Trump, Trump has been in the works of the GOP for at least 3 decades as they plumb the lowest common denominator as way to keep power. Its no wonder the US ranks near the bottom of the league tables of robust democracies in the Western world.
And really unless the dems take both the Senate and the WH its only gonna get much worse, as really Moscow Mitch is as much more of a danger to America as Trump, he's spent his years crippling US democratic processes and will continue to do so.

yeah, that's because the US is the only country to suffer from the China virus,, the only problem the US has with employment is that jobs are outlawed, all jobs have returned that the law allows, Trump is the only president to bring jobs back from China since Nixon went to China, Trump has brought more troops back then either Bush or Obama, the only war he has started is a trade war with China, unlike B and O, he is the closes thing to a independent president we have had in my lifetime, 40 years ago he would be called Democrat,

The US is the "developed" country with by far the highest case count, case count per capita, and the developed country that's done absolutely the worst at bringing the pandemic under control. Every other country got to a point where beginning to reopen made sense. Meanwhile the US never got below 20k new cases per day, so it was bound to get out of control again.
Trump, and the Republican governors of the South who refused to shut down, totally f**k*d it up, and as a result f**k*d up the US economy even more bigly than it was going to be f**k*d.

the Markets have been clawing their way back, even with government ordered closing, jobs are returning, though not as fast as they would if the government got out of the way,

This is why as soon as things are eased cases go through the roof, its not that jobs are outlawed its that the conditions for people to work safely are simply not there and many are choosing their own life over going back. The whole school clusterfuck is a prime example, Trump pushed for schools to re-open, many saw massive spikes and now schools and universities are closing and going virtual. As the myth and bullshit about him brining millions of jobs back from China, sadly, as with so much of Trump stuff, facts show a different story. foreignpolicy.com/2020/05/26/china-jobs-coronavirus-pandemic-manufacturing-trump/and even pre-pandemic they were not great. www.nytimes.com/2019/08/13/business/economy/donald-trump-jobs-created.html

as for more testing being the problem, and not the inept and incompetent handling of things by Trump, well SK tested millions more in the first 4 months than US did and they found far less, cos they did what was needed to stem the tide, as % of population the US is still lagging most other nations in testing, yet they are still seeing massive numbers, makes you wonder if the US ever did get its act together and tested up to the levels most others have achieved just how high would it be then?

Well this was coming. Sounding more like marshal law every day. He'll do anything to cripple US democracy, and all with Rick and the cult cheering him on. www.cnn.com/2020/08/20/politics/trump-election-day-sheriffs/index.htmlPresident Donald Trump on Thursday said he would send law enforcement officials to polling locations to guard against voter fraud in November's election, although it's not clear he has the authority to do so. "We're going to have sheriffs, and we're going to have law enforcement, and we're going to have, hopefully, US attorneys, and we're going to have everybody and attorney generals (sic)," Trump said during an interview on Fox News with Sean Hannity. but only to democratic leaning districts, all part of the GOP voter suppression intimidation play book. And to think the right have been getting all pearl clutchy for years about federal troops taking over and marshal law being enacted, turns out they were fed up with waiting so did it themselves.

Trump - quarter a million US dead is a good price to pay for a slight rise in stock dividends.

How do you talk to people like this? How do you you talk to people who insist that supporting two men being able to marry each other or even supporting Biden makes one an actual Communist? How do you talk to them?how do you talk to people (dems) who think high unemployment is good? how do you talk to people (dems) who think keeping minorities on the bottom of the economic ladder is good? how do you talk to people (dems) who think balkinization is good? how do you talk to people (dems) who think pitting race against race is good? how do you talk to people (dems) who think communist china should be our role model? You don’t, because nobody thinks that. Easy. Now if you are going to quote my question, next time try answering it.

bidens depressing, divisive speech. "With modern roads, bridges, highways, broadband, ports and airports as a new foundation for economic growth. With pipes that transport clean water to every community. With 5 million new manufacturing and technology jobs so the future is made in America." eight years in the white house with whats-his-name. why didn't they do it then? "We'll make the medical supplies and protective equipment our country needs. And we'll make them here in America. So we will never again be at the mercy of China and other foreign countries in order to protect our own people." eight years in the white house with whats-his-name. why didn't they do it then? I don’t think “depressing” and “divisive” mean what you think they mean.

dividends are holding though, and all things considering that's pretty good,
Basement Joe did manage to read a 22mn speech, though it is unclear if it was live or recorded, haven't heard from him since, guess he needs time to recover from such excitement, back to his crayons

yeah, but you can hardly say Trump rambling on stream of consciousness confused disorganized word soup means a great deal Jim, I've seen many a demented old bloke ramble for hours in much the same fashion. Though really if you want to compare reading speeches, seeing your man read one is painful, he always looks like he's reading a hostage statement, its devoid of all emotion and he clearly struggles to pronounce many words over 2 syllables.
Though I'm confused as why you still support him Jim given you say once you know someone is lying you dismiss everything else they have to say.
