i'm sure the us womens soccer team, also known as the "Brat Pack," was satisfied. they got to virtue signal and display their hatred of the us before sweden kicked the snot out of them.

I went out for a run yesterday and lost my key. It was in a small inside pocket of my shorts- more of a small pouch attached to the inside of the waist band. Anyway, towards the end of the run, I realised it wasn't there any more but it seemed pointless to backtrack and look for it so I kept going, knowing my neighbour has a spare key. I got the key and went in and when (I know, tmi) I took off my shorts to get in the shower, there was the key in the lining of the shorts. I don't know if I'd not put the key properly in the pocket at the start or if it had somehow fallen out but I'm puzzled that I didn't notice it in the inner lining. How queer.

I've lost keys in those weird pocket-pouch thingies in running shorts, too. Once I only found one after it went in the wash...
Fortunately, I now live in houses that have access codes so I don't need a hard copy key any more.

I read this and got annoyed.
For f**k's sake - he made a silly inoffensive reference / joke back in the early 1990's !
This just pisses everybody off - and is completely counter productive.

The hilarious thing is that they've waited until all the creative directing that could be done has long since been done. Only then does he "lose his job".

The thing about Holocaust jokes is that you have to make sure that they are really, really funny before you tell them. Because if they're just above average jokes, people will reasonably ask why you made that joke and not a different one about something that didn't involve millions of deaths and the attempted obliteration of a race and culture.

Which is to say, it's fine to make a holocaust gag if it is genuinely good, better than any of the other material. A holocaust gag, per se, shouldn't be forbidden. But it's much easier to look like a nazi twat if you tell an unfunny holocaust joke than if you tell an unfunny joke about Keir Starmer or about axolotls.

That's true of any joke. Free speech shouldn't be conditional on the quality of the speech.

European jewry is not a race, but I think it probably is a culture. Interesting, I wonder if the Nazis were actually intent on killing all Jews worldwide or just those in lands that they controlled. I don't know the answer to that.

There was a fuss about jokes on the nukes dropped on Japan during WW2 a while back, I believe it was the BBC who had to apologise after some found them in bad taste.

I thought the Japs would be one the holdouts against woketiness. Disappointing Well they're doing this because it's the Olympics, which has world-wide exposure. If it was something domestic only they wouldn't care if the guy had sold "I survived the Holocaust and all I got was this lousy T-shirt" shirts.

Yeah, they've never even apologized for many of the horrors they perpetuated in the 30s and 40s and have scrubbed then from ever being taught or even commented on at home, so I expect the ones who run things would be very ambivalent about jokes about the stuff their main allie in the war got up to.

Bloody he'll, just listening yo the pre match commentary on the Arenal Brentford game and the commentator was go and on about how great it was to have fans back, this is how footy is supposed to sound, it's the people's game and the people are back and so on, sounded like he was near the vinegar strokes by the end.
Still, footys back.
