Ah, I misread that. It did seem an odd conclusion.
Bloke's a monster.

I expect his shellsuit caught fire, or some summary justice was administered upon capture.

Can't watch that cos I'm at work, but he's such a tw@t these days, I think he's in competition with Morrisey to find out who's the biggest helmet.

He's certainly lost his currency now. He hasn't been able to move on with his comedy, and nobody wants to hear what he says.
That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if he makes a comeback once he's over his current difficulties.

"Five women say they were raped by former Harrods boss Mohamed Al Fayed when they worked at the luxury London department store. The BBC has heard testimony from more than 20 female ex-employees who say the billionaire, who died last year aged 94, sexually assaulted them - including rape." www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cz6x635wpjxoAnyone in the least bit surprised?

It's a odd thing, this. The portrayal of PAs, secretaries and other women in business in the 70s and 80s strongly reinforced the impression that they were "up for it", but only if they were young and attractive. The attitude seems to have been that nice girls should be at home, or doing suitable lady work, such as teaching, nursing or working in a library. That is, unless they were older plain and/or single.

It's rather ironic also that part of the indictment reads, "... being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control ..." when clearly he was neither in charge of it nor keeping it under control.
Frankly, it beggars belief the brass neck of some people in pleading not guilty to such an obvious crime.

That a man in power used that to abuse women? Nope.

Women now, as then, have every right to go about their work without being perved on, pawed or penetrated by playboy bosses.
Given the climate at the time, I do wounder what these women thought they might be getting themselves into, accompanying such a bloke to Paris or St. Tropez.

Reminds me of that famous Caroline Aherne / Mrs Merton question to Debbie McGee a few years ago: “So what first attracted you to the millionaire Paul Daniels?”
So, er ... that.
Seriously though, if what they say is true, the fact that al-Fayed's victims had to sign a non-disclosure-agreement is bl**dy shameful. Given that it wasn't just al-Fayed touting the NDA, but it was also his various management acolytes at the time some of whom may well have either retired or gone on to pastures new then, either way, name & shame - yes, name & shame.
