Apparently the gun was a 100 year old pistol reported missing years ago, they're gonna test it to see it's linked to any crime then destroy it. The constable was very understanding, didn't even ask about all the pillows...

Halloween was big since I was a kid of course. Haunted Houses were a lot of fun.
The night before was known as Mischief Night, when enterprising lads would do things like put dog sh!t in a paper bag, place it on someone's porch and light it on fire in the hopes that an old geezer would open the door and stamp it out.

I reckon trick or treating was first invented by New York Italians to train their kids in how to run a shake-down. “Nice house you have here, mate. Be a shame if something happened to it. I’m sure nothing will. By the way, I’m collecting sugary treats for the poor orphans. Perhaps you would care to make a donation?”
Also, people decorating their houses for Halloween was almost certainly invented by peeeeedos trying to lure young children in.

We did mischief night on November 4th, very much a Yorkshire thing (The gunpowder plot had a lot support there abouts) mischief night was all about the gunpowder plot being the mischief, before burning an effigy of a catholic the night after.

The man-child and I went for a late afternoon walk along the river Adur this evening and lo! On the return leg, we spied the green glow of a match on TV in a local hostelry. May I recommend .....
Birra Moretti Sale Di Mare Lager
It sounds disgusting, but it's very good for what it is.

Coincidentally, I'm drinking a can of that right now. Bought from the garage.

I know it's not the weekend but...I've just been told by my very young grandson "granddad - you can pause YouTube with the space bar"

I knew that. No really, I did.
Also not the weekend but I went to see Deep Purple at the O2 last night. Ian Gillan can still sing.

How close to the "correct" line up was it?

I guess Jon Lord being dead means he can't play, and Richie Blackmore having always lived his best Spinal Tap life means he's probably not easy to have in a band.

Don Airey's been the keyboard player longer than Jon Lord was. He's also got a good pedigree having played with Colosseum II, Sabbath, Rainbow, Whitesnake etc. Richie Blackmore seems to play cod medieval rock lute these days and he's mental.

I'm staying on the Queen Mary for a couple on nights while in LA, WKC probably sailed on her, least I imagine you would have.

Too short. Way too short. I wasn't allowed to eat from 07:00 on Friday until midday yesterday, preparatory to a run in with arsecam at Worthing hospital. Nasty business, but all clear. Went for a walk with folks on Henfield Common and then ate stew with them. Slept like a log.
Up and out cycling this morning. 26km or so. Walked dogs on the hill. Returned to a busy afternoon doing my dhobi and cleaning before Mrs. B gets home on Tuesday with the MiL.
Busy week ahead with Aunt coming up from Cornwall to stay with my folks and do some research on the family tree (some of my ancestors were Coastguards posted up here, which is nice).
Just got time to shower and get a nice pie from the shop.

She'll be mortified when she sees my new pastie technique: open up a ready-roll shortcrust pastry, add chopped spuds, onion, swede, steak mince, salt, pepper and knob of butter. Then use the baking paper to create a sort of hammock, and seal the edges, a bit like a sausage roll, but with the ends sealed. 180°C for 60 minute. Takes no time at all and uses so much less pastry. It's almost diet food. Oggy Lite.
'Ansome.
