Have a lovely weekend folks. I'm off now for a few tactical beers, with a strategic Scotch & soda thrown in for good measure.

Enjoy!
Quite like the idea of a tactical butter knife - camouflaged handle, etc...

Blokes who dress in "tactical gear" in the backcountry, or indeed just round town, are sad tw@ts.

I walked to the brewery a couple of days ago and had what they described as a Scottish red ale, which was then aged in bourbon barrels. It was delicious but I think bore no resemblance to anything I’ve ever consumed in Scotland.

You've been buying the wrong beer or going to the wrong pubs

I have to say I've never been the beer snob type. I'll pretty much drink any of it, from anywhere.

I see California has finally realised what a bunch of morons the left are and booted out a traitor. "Some 60 per cent of San Franciscans voted to ‘recall’ from office Chesa Boudin, a pin-up for the ‘progressive’ Left, midway through his term as the city’s District Attorney. Down the Pacific coast, the day of reckoning continued as voters in Los Angeles threw their support in the city’s mayoral race behind a formerly Republican billionaire businessman, Rick Caruso, who has pledged to save the crime and vagrancy plagued city from the worst instincts of its Left-wing leaders." www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10905799/San-Francisco-ditches-progressive-chief-prosecutor-crime-tolerance-writes-TOM-LEONARD.html

That said, there’s good beer from almost everywhere. Not sure about Scotland, but I assume even they must have something OK by now.

The LA mayoral primary was a primary. Caruso hasn’t won yet. Hopefully he won’t - he is about as desirable as a mayor as most billionaires. As for Boudin, lots of people are reading lots of things into this. He will almost certainly be replaced by another progressive, just like progressives won in Alameda and Contra Costa. There are actual problems in SF, and I’m not sure the kind of policies Boudin was pushing are necessarily the solution. But I wouldn’t see this as symbolic of anything much other than Boudin being really bad at politics and optics. If there are a bunch of other results like this it’s a meaningful data point. As a single data point it’s not really much.

what a hillarious dumpster fire of a website, ironic that UJ loves these fringe kooky sites while being obsessed by the BBC being a bit biased (to the right of center) rather than being just another full on far right propaganda site.

To be fair, there will be a recession. This has been baked into everyone's calculations for months, and it was long predicted along with interest rate rises.
The only actual surprise is that inflation has persisted. But, ironically, that's because demand has remained way above supply which means that people still are buying what they can get their hands on.
Thinking of which, there's a weird style of news reporting going on at the moment mostly related to petrol prices. They keep talking about pain at the pump and how much people are struggling, yet never observe that the roads are as full as they've ever been. There's no actual downturn yet. No change in behaviour apart from whingeing.
