Of course, when we talk about the energy crisis, we should think about the elderly and the immobile who often can't feel the temperature properly and whose mobility is impaired. Mids, for example. Ssssh. I don't want a visit from Voice in the early hours.

Its not thermal coal though, its coke used in steel making. I wonder if there is a difference in carbon output. You can't really make steel without coke I imagine, though you can produce leccy without the need for thermal coal.

It's hard to see the economic case when it takes 750kilos of coka to make a tonne of steel (not a huge amount, or especially valuable), and you've still got to get it to the steelworks.

I think it's metallurgical coal rather than thermal.

There are any number of E/establishments, sometimes in the same interest group. Take E/education: there are The Teachers, the Education providers, the FE mafia, The Russel Group, Oxbridge, etc. Exfuckinzackly. You got there in the end. Have a biscuit.

Quite, quite mental. It's taken you all night to think of that response, hasn't it?

Yet you still haven't explained your vague accusation of "Establishment venality" ascribed to mismanagement of every service in the country - and corruption.
Why not just admit it's Tory mismanagement - I understand it's difficult for you... but give it a go.

I heard a radio advert this morning saying "prices are higher than ever!" Given how rarely there's been deflation in the western world, this really shouldn't be a revelation. Going back to this the TV this morning was "This is going to be one of the most expensive holiday seasons ever". And, my dears, when was the previous most expensive holiday season? Was it last year? And the most expensive before that? Perhaps it was 2020. And the one before that was almost certainly 2019. f**k**g morons.

The rail workers start their strike today and the posties start soon too. I think there's a risk that both occupations will simply be demonstrating their own obsolescence.
The NHS will be striking too on the 21st. There's considerable indifference and it feels like the public are less inclined towards knee-jerk sympathy for them. This could be their Waterloo.
In all cases cases It's bee interesting to watch the unions desperately trying to rope the government into a dispute between the strikers and their employers.

The government's refusing to negotiate, that's the problem. They've all said they will call off the strikes if the government will sit down and discuss it, but they've refused.

It's between them and their employers, not HMG. Of course, just like every spurious gouging exercise, the objective is to get to the deepest pockets which is the taxpayer.

From what I can see (and hear from NHS staff) there is a lot of support for them. I support all the strikers. I think it’s good to see there is still one part of the British workforce that is willing to fight for better work environments.
