Growth is good. There should be no time limit on education. He probably was well aware what it stood for but never reflected deeply on what Empire meant. Once he realised he decided he no longer wanted the award. As the saying goes about the British Empire: “The Empire on which the sun never set and the blood never dried”. What’s wrong with not wanting to glorify that? The British Empire was really great. Not sure what your or Cumming's problem is with it. Cummings is probably choking on his own. |

The M&Ms story is such right-wing culture war freak out dogshit, isn’t it? M&Ms change their branding, and suddenly the Fox-culture-war brigade claim it’s a massive woke thing and try and break the internet.
At least Mars-M&Ms has a sense of humour about it and push back a bit. It’s sad when the massive sugar-pushing multinational corporation is the good guy in a story.

Interesting, actually, that both of these stories are the right-wing melting down and freaking out. They also can’t handle the concept of someone returning his gong after thinking about it and it appears to have made their brains explode almost as much as terrible cartoon chocolate advertising characters wearing different clothes did.

This is typical of the far, extreme woke left. They put everything they have into something and then when it goes tits up they first deny its existence then when that's no longer sustainable, pretend they were never involved. It's childishly and embarrassingly transparent but of course they're too thick to see that. This is exactly what's happening with their culture war that they started. For a few years they thought they were winning their culture war that they started because nobody else had noticed it was happening. Then when somebody could be bothered to pay attention, the left were swatted aside with casual ease and lost every single battle in their culture war that they started. Now they're in denial, like a small child who covers their eyes and thinks the adults can't see them. Sad, in an adult.

Shouldn't this thread be re-named 'fragile right wing meltdowns over nothing'.
Add in the melt down they had last week over Pink Floyds use of a rainbow on DSOTM while we're listing their latest freak outs.
I can't imagine being so delicate and brittle that stuff like this, or changes to Mr Potato head, or what ever the latest thing they hate about Disney is. It must be exhausting to live in perpetual outrage, only ever a hairs breadth away from being massively triggered by trivialities such as this.

Matthew Parris was on Any Questions today, but I don't know why. I can see that he ticks a couple of representation boxes while being a classic urbane smoothy, but he never seems to stand for anything.
He was asked today about the ongoing trans debate and he said that we should all just stay out of it, be polite and decent about or, and leave the arguments to the extremists on both ends of the topic. So far, so good, but the problem comes when the theoretical meets the real World and people have to be told "no". That seems to be the base with the Scottish rapist. It's all fun and games until others are placed in danger.
