They are self-humiliating.

It really is quite a jolt though, when something like this actually happens. How do they ever hope to be taken seriously?

I guess you just have to hang on to beii3f in personal values and integrity, and that those values are shared by the by the majority of your country, if not by the political executive.

I think I always thought it was "worthy" cases that were pardoned. People with some doubt over their conviction and the like. Still a weird thing though.

I had always imagined that it was a sort of discreet fix for people who had been obliged to bend the rules in pursuit of some national interest, like Oliver North.
How will any judge in America be able to sentence anyone for the same offences as Hunter. "I'm sorry your Honor, the sentence can't stand because my Dad isn't available to pardon me and I am, in consequence, being treated unequally in law."

It’s time the Democrats started matching the Republican’s energy.

The existence of presidential or royal pardons is ridiculous. The very fact that they happen at all means either they are letting someone off who shouldn't be or the judicial system is f**k*d.
I think JBiden is right that the prosecution of Hunter has been entirely political and nobody would have done after him if Biden had been, say, an executive of a hamburger chain. And also that a Trump prosecution service would have gone after Hunter like crazy, in an entirely inappropriate way.
So if pardons are going to exist, this seems pretty justifiable.
It looks crappy, though.

Considering who Trump pardoned last time and the fact he plans to pardon the traitors who tried to overthrow the government for him, this is small fry stuff really. And as Hunter was about the only person ever to prosecuted for this (CV is the right think any gun control laws shouldn't be enforced) this is righting a wrong, all be it a small one.

Though it has been funny seeing the right wank themselves raw over this in the rankest of all displays of rank hypocrisy
