He seems pretty unexceptional in many ways, so is he a committee man or something like that? Being unexceptional is a pretty big qualification, as Voice notes, after 4 years of chaos. But he got the gig in a "Buggin's Turn" kind of way. He was sort of default next in line having been Obama's VP. Nobody was particularly excited by him, as I've noted elsewhere. The left wanted Sanders. The technocrats wanted Buttigieg. The centrist compromisers wanted Klobuchar. Most of team Hilary wanted Harris. But none of those groups could get more than 20% of the support, and nobody was particularly opposed to Biden. So he snuck through basically by default. Not unpopular, not disliked, not offputting particularly to any wings of the party. And - for reasons I don't really understand, but probably because he had decades in the Senate, a bunch of the black Democratic caucus wanted him and particularly Jim Clyburn gave him an early win in the South Carolina primary. Which gave him a sort of momentum that stayed while the other candidates weakened. But having been Obama's VP, it was always assumed that he'd be standing and have quite a lot of the establishment behind him.

RFK scaring the hell out of the establishment. and the big guy has sicced his lapdog media on him. i'm liking RFK more and more. i could even actually support him. he seems more old school democrat than the whackadoodle dems that dominate now. YouTube scrubbing RFK video from their site; Instagram bans before he posts anything"RFK Jr. is scaring the Establishment, and they are fighting back against him in the best way they know how: by shutting him up. RFK Jr. has always struck me as something of a kooky oddball, and while he is fighting on our side from the left, I still think he is something of a kooky oddball who happens to be saying some things that make sense." (unlike "sharp as a tack" biden and most donkeys) hotair.com/david-strom/2023/06/07/youtube-scrubbing-rfk-video-from-their-site-instagram-bans-before-he-posts-anything-n555986

and a democracy is no longer a democracy if political candidates are silenced and not permitted to get their message out.

I doubt RFK can scare away flies tbh.
Still fun watching the far right bigging him up and trying to pretend he's shaking things up and might, if only he wasn't silenced (not listened to most likely) then he'd run Joe our of town.
The blokes a crank and grifter and would be very much at home in the modern GOP, his attempts to play spoiler will be about as successful as Christie.

Meanwhile, Chris Christie and Mike Penice are in for the Republicans.
I make this the current occupancy of the clown car (in rough order of plausibility):
Trump De Santis Penice Haley Scott Christie Hutchinson Ramaswamy Brinkley Burgum Johnson Elder

The idea he's being deliberately silenced is risible, he's a known crank and grifter who few outside the antivax and far right can be bothered with.
Plus he already has a huge platform and speaks regularly at crankfests and is forever on AV shows and channels hosted the likes of Mike Addams, Dell Bigtree and other prominent cranks. That no one in the mainstream thinks his cranking and grifting is worthy of coverage is hardly him being silenced, just him having nothing sensible to say.
It's like saying all the minor also rans in the GOP race are being silenced cos no one cares what they have to say and they are never on Fox, Newsmax or OAN.

That is a very good ruling, but also incredibly surprising given Kavanaugh and Roberts's previous apparent distaste for voting rights, and particularly for allowing specific black blocs to vote and not have their votes diluted. A specifically racial element to anything decided by this court - whether it's affirmative action or making sure that dense black neighbourhoods aren't split and therefore are likely to have black representation in congress - is exceedingly rare and quite shocking.

Yeah it was widely expected the ruling would go the other way, so rather a surprise.

watch the woman he approaches. she gives him a 'who are you?' look and quickly looks away, ignoring him. she seems embarrassed he's next to her. and shes supposedly a supporter.
