A new occasional thread, which should be self-explanatory. My inaugural post .... "A new award for UK emergency service workers who die in the line of duty has been announced, after a campaign by the father of a murdered police officer. Named after the late Queen, the Elizabeth Emblem will be given to the families of public servants. Bryn Hughes, whose daughter PC Nicola Hughes was killed in an ambush in 2012, has been calling for two years for an award to recognise these sacrifices. Yeah. Deliberately bland and vague. Plus there's no need for it. I wonder if AA mechanics, as our 4th emergency service, will get one?

Yeah, they want to allude to The George Medal, but can't bring themselves to get that close. Of course, crosses are out. Ironically, I would be happy enough with a Crescent, which would at least make is easily recognised (as worthless toss).
So, "emblem", eh? They must be so proud of that. Strong work. Did nobody have access to a thesaurus?
Crosses are haraam. Ditto hearts. I think we can all think of an appropriate symbol. £.

"Newly released CCTV shows Katie Price getting out of car as she is fined for driving offences
Katie Price has been fined £880 for driving without a licence or insurance after the reality star was recognised by a police officer.
CCTV played at Northampton Magistrates Court showed Price wearing black slippers and stepping out of the driver’s side of her bronze-coloured Range Rover at a petrol station on the A14 at Kettering on August 2 last year.
Price, who did not attend court, had previously denied both motoring charges. However, she was found guilty in her absence and hit with an £880 fine as well as £620 in costs and a £352 victim surcharge.
The reality star was also handed eight penalty points on her licence, which was said in court to be expired.
Chair of the bench Neil Sheppard said: “From the evidence we have been shown, the case is proven against Miss Price.”
The court was told Price has numerous previous convictions for motoring offences, including driving while disqualified in 2019 and 2021."
So, what do we do about someone who just ignores the law and her responsibilities to others?
I suspect she's got some mental disorders and/or substance problems. Neither of those are likely to be fixed by prison time, but she needs help, I reckon. I can't see it ending well for her.
