It's such a Daily Mail headline, telling us that Gen Z are "waging war" on "our" sandwiches. Yet it's just a puff piece from a bread manufacturer who put out a trite survey and we learn that young people have different tastes to old people and nobody is actually doing any war waging at all, unless having onion breath like Boomers do is waging war.

I see geology is racist now. Also, "pale-ontology". "A geography professor at a leading British university has described the study of rocks and the natural world as racist and linked the academic field to 'white supremacy'. Kathryn Yusoff, who lectures at the prestigious Queen Mary University of London, said that the geology as a subject was 'riven by systematic racism' and influenced heavily by colonialism. The study of prehistoric life through fossils was also branded as an enabler for racism, with the professor referring to the field of palaeontology as 'pale-ontology'. Arguing that geology began as a 'colonial practice', Professor Yusoff stated in her book 'Geologic Life' that the extraction of metals such as gold and iron had created hierarchies, pushed materialism, ravaged environments and was the route cause of climate change. Claiming that 'geology continues to function within a white supremacist praxis', the academic referenced the theft of land, mining and other geological practices as having led to the creation of white supremacy and a resulting 'geotrauma'. Funnily, if you dig deep enough, and excavate under the mountains of bullshit, there's sort of a point. Most geology has been used in the service of extraction industries. And extraction industries are pretty tightly linked to centuries of imperial projects and lots of racist crap. And when you teach a 19 year old how to use their rock hammer to identify a rare earth seam in the Congolese hills, it's probably worth adding some context and perspective and tell them just because they can identify a seam that doesn't mean that a Chinese Megacorp should be allowed to displace millions of locals in order to shovel all the Tantalum back to Beijing.

Anyway as woke basically means being kind, tolerant and not a huge arsehole, I'm ok with being woke, plus the most vile people imaginable are the ones thinking being woke (kind tolerant and not a huge arsehole) is bad thing and think they are insulting decent people by calling them woke.

Nah it's gay pish from top to bottom. Humans have always exploited the planet, including the minerals within. It's why we mostly live nice, comfy lives.
