Farage may get some support for not being quite as unutterably dull and tedious as Rish! and Keith.

But, for f**k's sakes, "Woke Stormtroopers"? Does he really think Britain needs to be more like the US fighting US style culture wars? Are British people really that desperate to emulate that side of America? My feeling is that even when Mids and Baloo do their culture war stuff it's mostly as boring repetitive joke: they don't actually dislike foreigners or women or gays all that much.

I reckon Mids and The Bear “like” women in the standard way misogynists like women (for the services they perform not as people).

But they definitely despise the gayers, non-whites and foreigners (which includes all non-whites).

I also genuinely think a lot of Britons are also like this but nowhere near enough for Farage to get anywhere near serious power. (Definitely not in cities anyway.)

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. It looks like Rishi has decided to offend the last demographic who might have voted for him by pissing off from D-Day early in order to give an interview to say he wasn't lying. And, in fact, he lied about why he did this. And managed to say that "We shouldn't politicise" his decision to abandon the ceremonials for politics.

Meanwhile, Labour are making a hard pitch to the same demographic. The Sainted Angela has been seen wearing Union Flag loveheart socks. How much more remembrance could she give for the brave souls who died defending our shores on D-Day?

Like everyone else, I didn't see it. But I believe that once again that the Tories, Labour, Reform and Nationalists were a steaming pile of turds.

An interesting couple of theories:

First, the Tories are so pissed off with Sunak's decision to call an early election they are deliberately sabotaging him and making him look like a total dick. (I don't think that's true: I think they really are just desperately out of touch).

Second, the Tories are so inept at campaigning that there is a real risk of a Canada '93 outcome here. Which would be funny, but the theory then says that a hollowed out Tory Party would be absolutely ripe for a Faragist takeover and that Nigel Farage therefore has a reasonable chance of being the next Tory PM in 5 years time after support for Starmer collapses as it's almost certain to do.

I don't think the pub bore could ever be PM, he's proven himself an expert at un-electability and nothing suggests that's gonna change.

I hope you're right. But I foresee the UK electorate being utterly pissed off in 5 years time and just voting for whoever runs the Tory party, no matter how sh*t. And Farage might be in a position to take over a completely hollowed out Tory party.
