And so it begins .... "Seven Labour MPs have had the whip suspended for six months after voting against the government on an amendment to scrap the two-child benefit cap." www.bbc.com/news/articles/c978m6z3egnoGood luck getting your immigration plans through, you flaccid cock, Starmer.

Yeah, I would like to say that the lefties had been jizzing themselves a couple of weeks ago but, in fairness, I think that even they weren't stupid enough to realise that Labour were full of bullshit.
I think everyone knew that it would end badly, and it was just a matter of how long before the Emperor's new clothes were seen for what they are.

This was bound to happen.
This was a snap General Election which gave the various parties contesting it little time to prepare for it. Consequently, Labour had to fight with some candidates on the Left of the party who were bound to kick off once the Labour government started work. Quite frankly, I’m amazed that this rebellion amounts to only seven MPs but, even if there are more to come, then Starmer still carries a majority of 160+.
What is different is the speed with which Starmer and his team have moved against the seven; compare and contrast with the Tories who consistently hid behind the excuse of “we’re a broad church” as a reason for doing f*ck-all.

It's also an issue on which there were bound to be a few rebels.
Surprised it was only so few, tbh.

I agree it was bound to happen. It's bound to happen again, and it's bound to keep happening.
Labour had fourteen years to get ready for this. Fourteen years.

Yes, and they've acted decisively, fairly and promptly - cf. The Usual Suspects.
McDonnell et al were told good and early during the campaign of the funding difficulties that the Labour administration would face post-election. They were told that, because of the terrible state of UK finances left by Sunak et al, that the two-child cap couldn't be removed, at least in the short term - and yet they still chose to rebel.
Quite honestly, it's rather refreshing to see a governing party following through on pledges on which they campaigned. More please.

Good on the rebels. Why the f**k is Starmer defending nasty Tory nonsense when he has a 7000 seat majority and no opposition?
