What a batshit statement. “Too many renters”. LOL! Can you explain your .... errrr .... thinking? Or are we seeing another fourth form outburst? Come on Van, give us the corporate critique.

Maybe frame your response around the concept of economic scarcity? I look forward to your insight into property economics. It should be fascinating.

The link between National Service and rapes and a woman being stabbed? Bloody hell you're culturally illiterate. So, Bournemouth: the home of the blue-rinsed, dyed-in-the-wool, outraged Tory retiree. Core Tory voters. To be pandered to, especially when women are being violated by furrin-sounding beasts on public beaches. Nowhere in that post draws the link. Or are you arguing that Bournemouth residents are so thick they think National Service will stop women being raped and stabbed?

Well, the kind of people who read The Mail and The Express have always said we should bring back National Service (and hanging). This is entirely about that. There have been two rapes and two women stabbed, one fatally, in Bournemouth this week. The link between National Service and rapes and a woman being stabbed? Pakistan National Service.

I rarely take the Lord's name in vain, but I really think my dogs would have got this before you.

So it appears that the half-baked National Service thing is called, utterly hilariously, Mandatory Voluntary Service.
It'll cost billions.
Maybe 20,000 kids will go into the military, to do something with coding or procurement, for a year. Not even bootcampy stuff.
And everyone else will have to do 25 days a year of pulling shopping carts out of canals, for no recompense, while learning nothing useful.
Even in the pantheon of sh*t National Service ideas, this is extra-sh*t.

Mmm .... forensic.
It was interesting to see how many old Labour MPs are jacking it in too.

I think the number I've seen is about 40. But the Labour Party, terrible though they are, aren't desperately thrashing around to find candidates in 150 different constituencies.

Are the Tories "thrashing around"? I expect they'll find people to take the hit, either out of loyalty to the cause or on the understanding that they'll get a better gig when happier times come. As they will.

As they will. The Tories are thrashing around. And yes, they'll find candidates, but those candidates will be even less vetted and even less coherent than usual. The fact that they already appear to have selected one who's standing for the Lib Dems seems to be a bit of a tell.

So, they're not thrashing around. There will be no end of [largely third rate] volunteers and chancers. That's the way it goes and, fittingly, explains Dawn Butler.

Thrashing Tories are a billion times more competent than centuries of careful Labour planning.

It was very funny listening to Shadow business secretary Jonathan Reynolds getting absolutely arse-raped by the BBC's Emma Barnett about whether he identifies with the term "socialist".
"Yes, I would describe myself as a Christian socialist in the best traditions of that [term]because that's about putting people first and to do that, you've got to have a set of policies that will deliver for people," he responds.
Put to him that former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, and current Labour leader Keir Starmer, have also described themselves as socialists - which may confuse voters - Reynolds says he thinks voters care more about what their politicians want to do."
He looked a proper Wally. Well worth a listen.
