"Firearms officers had been called to the airport after reports of an altercation by members of the public, a police spokesman said.
Three officers were “punched to the ground” in a “violent assault” when they attempted to arrest one of the suspects, he added.
“As the attending officers were firearms officers, there was a clear risk during this assault."
Good grief.

Of course, profiling is a tricky thing, but being out of control, violent and brown at an airport? Not a good look.

Of course, the lad on the floor was positively Ghandian and had just been minding his own business.

Well, it's Friday and it's stopped raining. I guess if it's going to kick off in the tribal homelands, it'll be after prayers this afternoon.

Protests in Rochdale? Hmmmm. There's something... can't quite put my finger on it...

Funnily enough, there was a TikTok clip of Tommy Posho Robinson last night, making a very strong but obvious point. It only occured to me later who he was. He asked where the community of Rochdale had been when all those girls were being handed around to be raped. He finished by saying something like that community it always full of outrage, but never shame.

Anyway. I'd like to see the police doing more violence like this. Only to those who deserve it, of course.

"The new Labour government has been in power for just over three weeks. In that time, it says ministers have found government departments in a much worse state than they thought. On Monday, the Chancellor will argue the public finances are in a bad place – and that will mean tough decisions. To use the Westminster jargon, she's rolling the pitch for announcements that might not be popular. But how much of what the government is facing is actually a surprise? And how much are these ministers trying to shape the political narrative? The first thing to highlight is that we already had a good idea of the state of the country’s books, external. The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) publishes them twice a year – we last got a full breakdown last November. We also knew during the election campaign that there were tough decisions to come. The BBC covered them – including warnings that there were likely to be tax rises or cuts or both as a result of a squeeze on public spending. The Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) suggested, external some government departments could see cuts of between £10bn and £20bn – something Labour were reluctant to engage with during the campaign." www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c9r329y9pqxoIt looks like the BBC won't go along with Labour's predictable excuse-making, and seem determined to rob them of the opportunity to back-skuttle on what we're assumed to be copper-bottomed assurances of pay rises for the public sector.

Yeah. This is standard bullshit. Promise lots of things when campaigning that you know you can't afford without raising taxes. Also promise that there's going to be more money than the current administration says - whether for tax cuts or spending - because you'll have massive growth (the kind of which never actually happens) which will allow you to splurge.
Wait a while, then tell everyone what they, and you, knew all along but continue the fiction by blaming the last government for hiding the real truth.

I expect this will signal the end of a) the honeymoon period and b) the old pals' act at PMQs.

At the moment I think this changes nothing on the honeymoon. Nobody knows or cares about this stuff until it hits them personally which is years away, if they notice at all. The honeymoon will end when something out of their control fucks up, like a volcanic eruption or a global recession or one of them is found in bed with a dolphin and an inverted latex glove.

Of course, the lad on the floor was positively Ghandian and had just been minding his own business. Well, the cop clearly lost his rag, but the Rochistanis really hadn't got anything to whine about. www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3gekjyq3j7oThey should all be given stiff custodial sentences with hard labour, and then deported, anywhere.

I think you touch on a very good point. These people have been treated with kid gloves and indulged for far too long. They are spoilt brats.
