We havn't got to winter yet. I do think it's very unlikely that it will be even a fraction of the worst case scenarios they have been trotting out though.

Could I just draw everyone's attention to #2 on this thread? No, not the bit about Andy Murray.

If it's any consolation, I sense that Voice might get the better of me in the footie ...

2010 will be one of the top 3 hottest years on the instrumental record. Kog will refuse to acknowledge this is significant.

Make predictions here, folks, so we can laugh at you when they are shown to be wrong. lala
The secret of making predictions is to say something so vague and all-encompassing that it couldn't be wrong.
For example. There will be a happy event for a Royal.
'Happy event' sounds like a baby. 'Royal' sounds like the British royal family.
There are thousands of royals of many different countries and if none of them has a baby you can always say it was something else, like getting married, anything at all happy. You can't be wrong.

I predict that the final quarter of 2010 will appear very solid, but subsequent quarters will show confidence waning and the recovery faltering. The deficit will remain stubbornly high, as the tax take sinks. While we'll probably not actually go into recession again, the 'recovery' will simply be a long period of very, very low growth, continuing high debt and ebbing investor confidence. By about 2013, Osborne will be out of Number 11 and Ken Clarke will be back in his old job.

Osbourne is still holding strong. Still a month to go ... Though I suspect Cameron's complete political incompetence may be the saving of Gideon. Only a great fool would suffer such another great fool to continue in his job. That minor detail aside, I think I managed to 'call the recession' pretty well, when most were either predicting double or triple dip doom, or elimination of the deficit with in a single parliament. Only wish I could be so astonishing with lotto numbers, or when Mrs la is up for it ...

Okay .... Friday evening fun. "A British couple who died on holiday in Egypt suffered heart and respiratory failure, local authorities have said. John Cooper, 69, and his wife Susan, 63, from Burnley, were staying at the Steigenberger Aqua Magic in the Red Sea resort of Hurghada. The couple's daughter, who was also staying at the hotel, said she believed their deaths were suspicious. The Red Sea governorate said medical checks by a health inspector revealed "no criminal suspicions". www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-45297626According to Dr. A. Rab, the previously-fit couple died from "heart and respiratory failure" which is, frankly, a decription of death not a cause. So, what's the cause? Vibranticide's been ruled out (although I'm prepared to accept that death through natural causes may include kufaritis.) Carbon monoxide poisoning? Food poisoning? Asp bite? Heat stroke? Place your bets! They're all being very tight-lipped so it could be anything.

My first thought was excessive heat - it's seriously hot at this time of year - along with dehydration caused by a massive case of the shits.

Didn’t they rule out CO2?

Didn’t they rule out CO2? C0 or C02? It's hard to imagine that C0 (monoxide) would be a problem in a hotel but you would know better than me. I may be mistaken, as I'm thinking they were in a hotel but they could have been in little chalets or lodges with their own water heaters.

Of course, they might have taken some medication and misunderstood the dosage instructions.
